Go to www.tirerack.com and look for the tire decision guide on their website...then proceed to answer the questions that will direct you to a particular type of tire that is suited to your personal qualifications & needs. From there, you can then ask about specific tire types/brands that fall in the category that is specific to your qualifications. You'll end up much happier than taking suggestions from forum members that don't drive in the conditions you drive in, or don't have the same hierarchy of qualifications that you do.

Tire decision is a very personal matter which is determined by personal preference in handling, ride quality, weather conditions, price, and also includes the varying tire types (touring, all-season, summer, winter, high performance, ultra high performance, etc).

I have a set of dedicated winter tires ( 18" Michelin X-Ice xi2 Lattitudes) and a set of tires for the spring/summer/fall (staggered set of 20" Nitto Motivos). I wouldn't begin to suggest that these would be the "best tires for the buck" for your driving situation in Seattle without ever driving there or knowing what your personal preferences are or even the type of tires that you may be inclined to purchase...without you doing a bit more research that points you to a general direction.
