Shawn, can you send me a detail instruction on how to do this too... I'm still on ISTA/P 46.3 and would really wish to flash my KOMBI module to 47.x so that HUD Entertainment & Phone function works on my car too... I haven't had the chance to upgrade mine until now... Thanks in advance...

I'm currently writing a detailed retrofit guide. It should be ready in a few hours.

Great!!! Thanks in advance... been keen to doing the HUD Entertainment & Telephone coding, but never had the chance to upgrade the car through the dealer... I'm still stuck on 46.3...

Thanks for putting it together. This looks good...although the credits seem lacking...

Two things though.

1) I would clarify that only change Production date to 0311 if your car's actual production date is prior to that. As written, I can see someone with a post 0311 date thinking they need to roll their date back.

2) I would add the steps, or at least include an instruction, that the modified VO with 6WA and production date be written to the car. If this is omitted, and someone does not do it, ISTA/P will have problems during dealer vehicle programming.

Thanks for the detail write-up... This will definitely help a lot of people that want to retrofit 6WA in their cars... Great guide indeed!!!

But, in my case, I already have 6WA... Everything is working fine... So, Is it possible if I just wanna update the KOMBI Module to a higher version that'll support "HUD Entertainment & Telephone function" without the full dealer ISTA/P update? Will this KOMBI Flashing method work? If this can be achieved, from which step should I start from?(from what I read through your detail guide, should I start from step 14?)

FYI, I'm currently on 46.3 and am actually aiming to get this function working without a full update to 47.1 or higher...

Thanks in advance.

Yes, in this case, just do the E-Sys part. However I don't know if your Kombi will work when it is on a higher I-Level than the rest of the car. It could work, but... maybe Shawn has more info regarding this.

As for the credits: sorry... I'll add the credits ASAP. You're absolutely right writing this! I'll add them this evening (I'm not at home right now.)
1) I changed that already
2) FA is automatically written to the car while flashing. (cf. pic.15)

Shawn, will this method work? I really do hope this would work so that I don't have to go to my dealer...

This is no problem. Kombi can be flashed to higher I-Level without rest of car.

Thanks.

As for FA being automatically written to car while flashing, this is true only if under E-Sys Options, Update VCM after TAL Execution is checked, which for some might not be the case:

I installed a virgin 6WB Kombi in mine last night. 20 minute job at most, and it is working perfectly:

Just add 6WB to your VO, make sure your VO Production date is at least 1211, and VO Code DKombi and HU_CIC.

Well, compared to basic Kombi, it's night and day. That said, I am still not sure if 6WA or 6WB is the better option. There are aspects about both that I like. You can't go wrong either way.

6WA retrofit KOMBI

I understand that the 6WB does not support HUD display of entertainment, telephone and even turn signals at the moment with current software. A big shortcoming but the cluster itself is supposed to be far ahead of the 6WA. Hopefully the extra HUD functionality will be supported with newer software.

Correct. I have also found the drivers assist lines (runway lines) on the HUD also not supported with 6WB.

Shawn,

We're you able to work any miracles on these issues yet, or are we all still waiting for newer KOMBI firmware?

Does anyone know whether the HUD Pedestrian Detection warnings are missing as well with the 6WB?

And yes Shawn, we are all counting on you to work your magic to bring back the missing items for the newer 6WB cluster.
