Thanks for the info, if I go check them out I will definitely keep that in mind!

The front plate mount just unsnaps from the bumper. I kinda just figured it out on my own; wasn't too tricky. I got the part on ebay. It was like $40 unpainted. It won't cost you much to have it painted; my neighbor owns a body shop and he did both the M5 spoiler and the molding for $100.

I just saw your previous thread with the part number. I ordered it. Now I need to know about the USB hook up for my Android OS. I'd like to listen to Pandora instead of the CD.

That, I'm still trying to figure out. I think I'm just gonna go with a Dynavin head unit that has built in Bluetooth streaming.

Check out this post. It compares the Dynavin and the Hualingan units. Both of these units will cost you some coin. A nice upgrade otherwise.

I just put one in my 530. I love it now that I've got it all set up, but it was a major hassle getting everything to work right. I wouldn't recommend one unless you have a lot of patience.

The Android version (which I have) in particular requires a lot of tweaking. It also requires a tether to your phone to get an internet connection. Not all phones will connect to it.

It does look very stock, which the Hualingan does not IMO.

Tethering was my concern. I guess one would have to pay a few more bucks to the wireless phone provider to enable hotspot capabilities. I just want to listen to Pandora w/o my headset. Why's it gotta be such a challenge.

You can root/jailbreak your phone and try to pirate tethering. I did it for years and didn't get caught, but they're starting to crack down more on that now.

The larger problem is that the Dynavin can't connect to all phones. I had no trouble tethering other stuff to my HTC One X, but my Dynavin would not get an internet connection with it no matter what I tried. I ended up having to get a portable hotspot that I keep in my glovebox. Since I'm on a mobile share plan, it's not much more a month, but it was frustrating having to do it.

If you get a unit that supports Bluetooth streaming, you can just run Pandora on your phone and stream it wirelessly to the unit. That's what I did in my Tundra.

I was watching two used, non-Android D90s and a used Android D95 on eBay; the D90s went for just over $400, but I couldn't bring myself to buy them. I think I like the way the interface on the D99+ looks over the D90; I'll probably end up buying a new one.

Don't even think of getting one of the older units. The first few rounds had some serious defects/QC problems. Even the D99+ isn't perfect but it works if you're willing to take the effort to get it all set up correctly.

Glad I said something. For a second I was mad at myself for not winning it for $405. The D99+ looks vastly improved over the older models.

There's a reason those are going for $400 and new ones are $900.

I believe that's list for the WinCE version. The Android version is 850.

I don't think I'll get the Android version. I am an Android purist and don't have any device running less than 4.1 Jelly Bean. 2.3 was not the greatest software and I don't feel like putting up with it again. Lol

Hey guys, just a quick update! I decided to get some wheels before a sound system. Don't feel like spending that much money on a Dynavin; I'll keep my eye out for a used D99+.

Anyway, I just picked up these 18" Beyern Mesh staggered wheels (used, and the Michelin tires have a lot of life left in them). The front wheels are 8.5" across with 235/40/ZR18s and the rears are 9.5" across with 265/35/R18s. The car is a lot quieter with the Michelins!

Someone hit my car today in a parking lot at the University of Florida. They didn't leave a note, now my bank account is $1000 lighter. I'm so glad I won't be attending that school.

I received a quote for painting the replacement license plate trim piece. $80.00. I don't know what to say. Seems a little expensive and this is a quote from a good friend of the family. Any other estimates or prices paid for the paint work?

I paid $100 for that AND the M5 replica spoiler to be painted. I would get a quote from someone else.

Hey guys! I just won an anti-roll kit from an Eibach Facebook contest! Adding that to my list of mods! I had to write about what I thought was the best production car and why, so I wrote about the e39 BMW M5.

Oh, and I finally got some good pictures of my new wheels on the car.

Been a while since I posted on here! Just want to post some updated pictures of the car. The biggest changes are on the interior. Maintenance wise, I have replaced the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, steering rack boots, upper intake boot, a battery, and got two new front tires. Other than that, the car has been running great!

Interior upgrades: M Sport steering wheel, ZHP weighted shift knob and real leather boot, and OEM aux input. Oh, I also cut the muffler out and had a down pipe welded on.

Where did you get the downpipe? Did the muffler shop that did the work just have it or bend it up for you? How is the sound comparing?
BTW, like the new wheels!

Thanks! The muffler shop did everything; cut the old muffler out, bent the downpipe into the correct shape, and welded it on for $45. It sounds pretty good, not too loud and there's not much of a drone.
