odd problem with battery connection.

i don't know exactly how to word it. car works and runs fine. but i notice when my car is at idle. the cluster, headlight and all the lighting inside of the car pulsates. was wondering if anyone has had this problem or know what it could possibly be? guessing i don't have a solid connection from my battery?

thanks

Even though this is one of my weakest points, it could also be the alternator or the voltage regulator within the alternator. Do your headlights pulse? Do they get brighter when the engine is revved and dimmer when at idle?

I would recommend that you go by a local Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc. and have them check the charging system. They can place a load on it and can give a better diagnosis than just a volt meter.

Good luck.

Alternator !

Step on the gas when you are at neutral. If the lights stabilise and get brighter, then its the alternator for sure.

You should get it tested anyway.

It could also just be the ICV not keeping the idle speed at the correct rpm when running so many acessories.

If the electronics are all really pulsating, then it is probably the voltage regulator in the alternator.
Figure out if your is replaceable or not.

Thanks again for the tip. I notice even when I'm on the free driving all of the electronics is still pulsating. This fix is going to have to wait a big cause I'm about to get my car towed to the shop to fix the clutch master / slave cylinder.

Would be a very good idea to rebuild or replace your alternator at the same time. A bad alternator will eventually fail, flatten your battery, and leave you with a no start situation unexpectedly.

At least get the alternator tested.

Hahaha funny how you said that cause when my slave cylinder gave out the pulley belt fell off due to a bad alternator even though my mechanic said it seemed like its been replaced recently before I bought the car. Just replaced the fly wheel and clutch last month which costed me $900 now replacing the alternator, pulley, belt, ac belt and slave cylinder. Oh well at least I got a killer deal on a new Bosch alternator and my car will be running smoothly

Hope all of this will fix my pulsating lights as well. Haha slowly I'm learning about my car. Haha
