The front arm rest is adjustable!

I had no idea the front console arm rest can be moved forward! I know I wasn't happy with that arm rest...was so far back to use it comfortably for me, at 5'5. Went to get in my car after a car wash, the seat had been moved way forward, so as I slid in, I had my hand on the armrest and it slid forward! I thought, did I break it? What the heck? No, this thing moves forward! You lose the console cup holder, but I'll just use the add on one. On the plus side, if you use that cup holder for change or whatever, cover it up this way so it's out of sight. I hadn't seen this addressed here so FYI

it's actually a pain though.. Twice I've gotten in the car and had it slide forward and take out the drinks in the holder. I guess my elbow leans on it as I settle into the seat

Thanks for sharing this! The other morning when I was driving my E46 to work, I was noticing how my arm rest is pretty long allowing my arm to bridge comfortably between the arm rest and the shift knob. When I drove the X1, I knew the arm rest was shorter and thought I'd just have to deal with it, but it was an actual concern I had. Sometimes it's the small details that make us happy!

The other feature I had on my 2000 Jetta was automatic armrest lid ejection while braking (after the hinges broke).

Yah my dad's Tiguan has the adjustable centre armrest, for height and fore/aft. Heck, the Tiguan has gone to the Electric Park Brake (with Auto Hold outside North America) even though the platform is as old as the X1.

I always keep the arm rest slid forward to cover the cup holder. I keep money there and I think it looks better with the cup holder hidden regardless of what I keep there.
