With all that Wind Noise I am reading in that other thread I am wondering if that is a good thing. :>

Don't lose sleep over it. Keep in mind that any problem reported here, while real, is likely experienced by a small percentage of X3 owners. What you won't see here are all of the X3 owners who don't have the problem chiming in to say so.

New update. My dealer called me this afternoon and told me that my car just arrived. The website still says it is "Finishing Touches" and the phone system still says it is "being transported to the port of exit".

I also do not have any wind noise, even with no radio on and going 100 mph.

Got delivery of my x3 yesterday. Looks amazing. Will post driving impressions soon. Opted for 3M protection by the dealership. Looked around the forum and noted a few folks who also had opti-guard/opti-coat application. Was wondering if I should go for these options on top of the 3M protection. Does anyone have recommendations for good detailer in indianapolis area?

Yopu should check if opticoat can be applied over the 3M stuff. I thought it had to go straight on top of the clear coat. Maybe ask in the detailers sub forum.

Got production number and our X3 35i is being assembled. Checked this AM and it is in the paint shop and should be done on Mothers Day -- perfect timing since this is my wife's car.

How long does it take to get to Ca?

Mine took just under 3 weeks from finish of production to pickup at the dealer in SoCal.

Was lazy enough to take pics because I was driving around going crazy in my new car

Anyway, here are some pics. Alpine white with Oyster. M-sport, DHP, Tech, cold weather, premium and drivers assistance.

I'm getting around 23-26 in the city in eco-pro/comfort mode. Am sure highway would be approx 28.

Now I have to figure out how to add my home address in the NAV. Back to the mannual

Now that you have your vehicle...is there a wind noise problem with yours?

I have had the vehicle for almost two weeks now and I would say that overall the vehicle is not that well insulated. I do not have specific pockets where the wind noise is bad, but I do feel the wind noise all over the front windshield when it is windy( it is windy in Boston always).

I noticed you have DHP. I have that included in ours and have not driven one with it. They are not normally on the cars at the dealer. Did you drive one with and without DHP? If so, what was the difference?

Thanks

It looks beautiful. Great choices in the opinion of this architect.

Looks fantastic! I love that you did the aluminum window trim and rails with the AW and M sport, that really looks great.

Mine is about 1.5 weeks old now, got some decent pics of it.

Most options except DHP and DA II. Space Gray/Chestnut/Wave.

Coded as much stuff as I could onto it, now works right also - is a step up actually from my 2011 X5 in pretty much every way - only miss the power tilt teliscope, the rear CA handles and the cooled seats, otherwise everything on the X3 is a step up and it drives better and has more power.

How long does it take for the x3 to progress to different stages? Mine has been sitting at the 'start - order documented' screen for about 8 days now

That could be normal. Do you have a production week assigned? Did your CA give you a Vehicle Information Report? (It should be listed there.)

I don't have a production week assigned. I called BMW NA and they said no production week/date has been assigned yet. I did not get a vehicle information report I don't believe; what is this and what does it contain?

I did, however, call back my sales rep and ask him for a timeline. He stated since no production week has been assigned yet it could be 6 weeks maximum; is this accurate?

Also, what does CA mean? I'm new here, and I'm trying to learn the lingo .

The VIR has the options you selected, the priority assigned to the order and (IIRC) the production week - mine was week 19, which was May 6, and I ordered on April 23. My production started on time. My CA (BMW-speak for "Client Advisor" - that is, salesperson) had me initial the VIR to confirm that the options we selected were correct.

Yes. It could be 6 weeks. See if you can get him to nail down a production week.

I took the plunge on DHP. Our dealer did not have any DHP models. I test drove an M3 and Z4 with DHP to get a feel of the steering and handling (of course I'm talking apples and oranges) but I really liked it.

Upon delivery, one thing that I noticed right away is that with DHP your suspension is really really soft (compared to non DHP). Eco pro mode is a joke. I drive mostly on comfort with sport throttle and soft chasis for inner city driving. DHP really shines in sport and sport+ mode. When I want to have the road rash, I flick the rocker to sport/sport + mode and see everyone with a look in my rear view mirror.

IMHO the option is definitely worth it. Whether it will stay reliable after 6-8 years is debatable since it relies on electronic damper sensors.

That is what I am doing -- taking plunge. In comfort, do you set set sport throttle/soft chassis or does it default to these?

Our car is on the train heading to California
