Question Heads up display on the 2014 x3 question...

I ordered with the tech package primarily because of the HUD (I knew I was getting it equipped with nav already), and I'd like to know if anyone with a HUD in a 2014 x3 can tell me if its full color or not.

I drove a 3 series sedan prior to driving the X3 and that had a HUD which I really liked so I'm hoping it's the same in that it's color.

HUD is full-color per http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho....php?p=7519369, but there are reports that it doesn't have the same functionality as the 3-series sedan HUD.

It is full color - I don't know what features the 3 series has, but can tell you if the X3 has them or not if you list what you like. Basically out of the box, it has a startup graphic and shows speed, check control messages and turn by turn Nav in color. With a little light coding, mine now also shows signal indicators, caller id, phone list and entertainment selections.

Question for Rob....

Interesting post....I have the HUD "deluxe" in my '14 X3. Shows the posted speed limit; navi in color, etc.. How do I add the other features you describe such as turn signal display, etc?? Thanks in advance. Peter

Blah I didn't get the speed limit info but I'm wishing I did for the novelty of it because I'm sure it's an awesome feature. I just couldn't justify $500 or 700 (I can't remember the price) for that feature since so far in my life I've always just read the speed limit signs and been fine haha

Speed limit display.....

Not a gimmick. Love it....separately, I can select speed limit display on dash as well. 100% accurate. I really love my X/3 2.8. Not one complaint.....which is rare for me! P

You need to turn on the features with a program called esys and a special cable, or find someone near you that can do it.

Speed limit display

The speed limit can display in the speedo pod and/or as a HUD on the windshield.
