740i... lease 2013 now or wait for 2014?

I'm planning to do an ED for 2013 740i pick up at the Welt in late July. The 2013 has free M sport and $3000 cash which makes it attractive from the payment point of view and presumably the 2014 won't have any of those.

But the 2014 will have the multifunction cluster display and new iDrive controller from what I learned. Is there anything else for 2014?

I'm about to place the order, but now I'm having a second thought about 2013 vs 2014.

Another consideration is that my X5 lease will be up in early September, so if I pick up the 2013 in late July, the car will get here around mid September, so the timing will work out nicely.

I'm seeking for words of wisdom from the forum.

Thanks in advance.

Which is more important living with a smaller payment knowing you got a better deal, or get a new TFT display and MMI touch controller with less of a deal?

I would never wait for a car unless it was a huge redesign. Even then I'd wait for the second model year.

My personal opinion, get it now, with the options you want, and enjoy it knowing you got a really good deal.

You can retrofit the TFT Display later if you absolutely have to have it, and I'm guessing that will also be the case with the new iDrive controller.

Chris

I would definitely get the 2013. I retrofitted the 6WB and it is easy to do. The touch controller will probably be retrofit too.

I would go with the suggestions posted above. The touch controller is "cool" but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I played around with the touch controller in the new S8 and it didn't really wow me, actually found it annoying.

I would get the 2014. If costs are a consideration, wait for the end of year deals. Put in an order for Dec or Jan delivery in September and extend the lease on your X5.

Thanks so much for all the advice. I'm leaning towards 2013 myself. The 6WB cluster is pretty cool and I might do the retrofit down the line.

Now hopefully I can find reasonable airfares to MUC in late July.

This should be easily solvable by coding
