Unhappy need help with re-engaging motor B for fully automatic conv top

Hi really hoping I can explain this clear and could get some help.
I recently purchased a 98 BMW 323i convertible from someone and when I tried to put the top down it stopped at about 6" from time the beginning of the going down process. I googled to see what the problem could be and found how to disengage the motors (by lifting the rear seats and pulling the lever found behind the driver seat) in order to put the top back up manually. I tried putting the top down again and once again it starts the process but comes to a dead stop and won't go any further. I googled again and found out that there are two motors related to the process and that I needed to re-engage them. After some fighting with motor 1 I got it to snap back in however I have not been able to get the second motor to snap back in. I used a mirror to look at it and I swear it looks like the opening for the motor gears doesn't line upwiththe motor gears.
Sorry. ..I wanted to attach a picture along with this but couldn't :/
