Question Map Update - Lost Night Mode?

After I updated my maps using a torrent and FSC code I purchased online I lost Night mode. It worked perfectly before the update. Even if I switch to it manually nothing happens. I'm wondering if I installed a corrupt maps update. I went to my dealer and bought the USB maps thinking I could just tell it to overwrite to hopefully solve the problem. It pops up on the screen and tells me the maps in the USB are older than what's installed although it's the 2013 update. I tell it to update anyway and it goes from 0% to 100% pretty fast, so it doesn't look like it's doing anything.

Is there any way to clear the maps and have it reload from USB?

Arrow You may be in "Traffic Conditions/Gray Map" Mode

I was faced with similar situation. I fixed by going into options, settings and de-selecting Traffic Conditions/Gray Map. Pls read this extract from owners manual:
"Settings for the map view
The settings are stored for the remote control
currently in use.
1. "Navigation"
2. "Map"
3. Open "Options".
4. "Settings"
Set the map view.
***9655; "Day/night mode"
Select and create the necessary settings
depending on the light conditions.
"Traffic conditions/gray map" active: the
setting is disregarded.

***9655; With the Professional navigation system:
"Satellite images"
Depending on availability and resolution,
satellite images* are displayed in a scale of
approx. 1 mile to 600 miles/2 km to
1,000 km.
***9655; "Perspective view in 3D"
Prominent areas that are contained in the
navigation data are displayed on the map in
3D.
***9655; "Traffic conditions/gray map"
The map is optimized for displaying traffic
bulletins, refer to page 139. Symbols for the
special destinations are no longer displayed."
