CPO X3 Resale

Im looking at a 2011 CPO X3. It has 4.5 years left on the warranty, and im wondering what I might be able to sell it for at that 6 year mark. MSRP was around 55K. Suppose it has 80k miles on it and in good shape.

I think I see these should be ~50% at 5 years. Just me as I'm in a guessing mood but would say between $20k on the low to $24k on the high.

Do you think $42k for a two year old fully loaded m sport is a good deal?

This is just "one mans opinion.......take with grains of salt". Technically, I just took home a 2014 so some may say you are 3 years with 2 more years having it be worth ~27K+-. I paid $46+ for my 2014 that is a 35i but no Nav, No M etc. To me I would rather do new for $4,500 more than what you have in front of you. Did you say how many miles it has? That would be a big factor for me. The M Package is well reviewed by members here so you may and hopefully get better insight from some of them.

Best of Luck and keep us posted on your process. Always tough decisions for sure.

You are going to have to be a bit more specific as to exactly what options are on the vehicle. And what the base vehicle is - 28i or 35i. And what the mileage is on the vehicle.

I do not own a 2011 model (three years old now since the 2014's are shipping), but from reading here the majority of issues and glitches are with the '11 and '12 model years. If it has a Nav system it absolutely should be loaded with the latest nav and map updates. Even then, the old CIC nav and idrive system is not as nice or as fast as the NBT version that comes with the MY14 cars.

Im trying to determine if it makes sense to buy new and sell in 6 years, or buy CPO and sell in 4-5 (when CPO warranty expires). It's not that I cant afford it, but I just hate feeling like I am taking the brunt of the depreciation of a new car. Trying to figure out which "cost per year" will be less.

Its a 35i...I just keep going in circles. If I were to buy a 2014, I would probably be getting a 28i base model, or close to it, so im guessing the older vehicle will be faster. The cpo warranty expires in 9/2017, so im basing the age on when the car was purchased and not how many years the model has been out. Are you saying they just need to update the navigation software?

I was looking at 2013 service vehicles with ~5k miles, but they arent CPO, so I would only receive the remainder of the 4 year warranty, and to be honest, they are only a couple thousand less than a new 2014. Doesnt really seem to be a great value. I know I am making this way more difficult than I should, but its a tough decision. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to things like this.

CPO X3 Resale

I hear you. These are hard choices. I meant that mine doesn't have Nav and guessing yours at $55k resale does.

You usually can do better buying a couple year old vehicle. We just had a CRV that we bought 3 years old and sold at 6 and cost us less than $150/month. I think I question if this is a good deal where it is 3 model years old now and whoever originally bought it really would have paid ~$51k so at $42k ($9k delta) it sounds high to me.

This is my first BMW but heavily researched. Hopefully some others will give you their more educated advise which could give you more insight.

Look at the thread titled 06-14. That person is selling an 06 in the upper teens. This was the older, 1st generation X3 but may help you to forecast future resale. Note the mileage. That would appeal to me if I were in the market rather than other features of a car more than 4 or 5 years old.

The 2014s are out, so I'd consider it 3 years old (model years). I've also been looking at the used ones while waiting for Ultimate Driving Event to come to my area. I would not purchase a 2011 for that price. JMO.

I wouls stay away from the 2011 CPO, I always try to avoid first year German cars. You can always look for a CPO 2012 or 2013 X3 35i. Once you test drive the 35i, its hard to go back to the 28i.

I've got similar sentiments as the guy before me. I never buy a first year car i.e. new line or new model change. Seeing as this f25 started in 2011 I wouldn't buy it.

In addition I think if you wait a few months until we get into late august/sept/oct you'll find a lot of deals on leftover 2013s so BMW can push stock and boost sales figure for the end of the year. Every car manufacturer does this to boost year end numbers to make their company look like it's pushing a lot of cars (which, I guess it actually is). Any who the point is, if you can wait until the end of the year, you can probably snag a new 2013 leftover 28i for close to what this 2011 would cost you.

In early March i bought my 2011 35i X3 as a CPO (100,000 miles or 6/2017). it had 28,000 miles. the nav system works great for me, it's very comfotable with the sports seats. heated steering front and rear seats. it listed out new at $57,000, it has everything. i paid almost $38,000. It's not an M but i love the thing. the 28i is ok, but the 35i is stunning.

you are looking at a fully loaded msport 35i with 18,000 miles for $42,000 with CPO...i'd be all over that!
