Many going 2013 over 2014

I've read the pre-production news. Seen the photos. I do not like the dash with the
tablet in the middle, or going to electric steering. Don't want a longer one for 3rd row
seating. Went diesel so power upgrade not an issue. So went out and found a 2013

This may be a repeat post, but didn't see it in a search

I ordered my X5 in March - same reasons and also, first model year for Beemers = bad idea. You really just end up being a Ginny Pig. I'm not interested in field testing vehicles and dealing with recalls, software updates, etc.

The current X5 is a solid, tried and tested platform that has had all (most) of the kinks worked out of it. The platform has been refined and evolved and the 2013 model offers a solid product.

I also like knowing that I won't need to try to retrofit the next model year's enhancements to my X5

Not liking the 2014 at all - but, I'm sure many will

I love the current style. I don't like the initial pics of the 2014, but I'm sure it will grow on me.
I traded in my 09 X5 and leased a 2013. I figure by 2016 I'll either like the new body style and get a new one or see what else is out there.

Know still covered up but the body to me on the exterior did not change that much.
Unless the test mules are total decoys. The Lights and taillights still look similar.
Now if did a C7 vette and turned over the apple cart, but from what I see little
tweaks here and there.

I've done first year models several times, and lived to regret it. They test and test,
but when a car get into the hands of a consumer just not the same as a test driver
for some reason. Know some say well you got the 4/50 but its still aggravating having
to take time to haul a car in.

Like you guys, a preference for the E70 styling and not wanting a first year model are the two main reasons I went ahead and ordered the 2013

If the electric steering works as well as the steptronic on the 2013 POS, then there will certainly be plenty of recalls when they start running in to things - and people.
