Your not kidding - I remember quite a few years ago Chrysler doing something like buy a ram pickup get a neon free or something. I don't see BMW sinking to that level. Seriously, I think 6 series sales are in trouble and they came up with this glossy " M sport edition " roundabout way to introduce a price cut and save face.

I get the NAV part of the following statement with the new upgraded system we don't get until this summer, but criticizing the interior of a 6er?: "Of course it's the 6er's NAV and interior that get the most put downs." It is a departure from most modern Bimmers with the tornado-shaped dash, etc., but I think that gives it extra points as it isn't identical to the 5er and 7er. To each his own, I suppose.

The F10 and F12/13/06 are undeniably alike thus making the F10 a comparative bargain. I don't think any of us owning 6ers were looking for a bargain when shopping around - unless it was, "damn, it's a bargain compared to a Continental GT!"
There's a couple of F10 Festers with leather dashes. Most CAs don't even try see what's available for special order, so the answer is usually it's not available. I'm expecting to see an Alcantara headliner before long.

Anyway, the biggest complaint about the NAV is the add-on look which isn't fully integrated into dash. Like Mrjoed, there was one silly thing that almost prevented from getting a 6er - the NAV screen integration. BMW is just following the trend which is either a fashion trend or a cost-cutting trend. Either way there's a lot of folks who don't like the look.

For me the 6er was a bargain, but there's a thread in the F10 forum pretty dedicated to Mrs Dunderhi's "deal" which put me a 6er vice an expensive car.

I really do wonder about a lot of the CAs. The vast majority of them are so clueless, and there always seems to be a few of the standing around waiting for something to happen. Seems to me that would be a prime time to bone up on knowledge.

I'm sure a number of factors played into the decision to have it freestanding. I actually like the look of it, and certainly wouldn't want one that retracts (a little too old C-Class/Cadillac for my taste ). I think one of the primary reasons for the new positioning is the safety of keeping the screen closer to the windshield. It doesn't seem like much, but I find the screen perfectly placed to keep the road clearly in my peripheral vision during the couple of seconds it sometimes takes to look down.

Sort of crazy that the 6 isn't selling so well nationwide, as I see so many on the westside of LA. Really hard to buy a car out here under 200k that less than a dozen people on my street don't own. The only one car in the lower 100's that I see very few of is the Audi R8.

I was in Houston last weekend and I saw only one 6er (white 6GC) during the 3 days I was there. In that time I saw 4 RR (three Phantoms and a Ghost), 2 Ferrari 430s, an R8, a Continental GTC, a Mulsanne, and an SLS. Last time I was in Houston a couple months ago I saw 2 F13s and an F12.

I'm not suggesting that the 6er is as exclusive, but it holds its own for a car that's at least half the price of most of the cars I mentioned.

6'ers on the roads of NNJ and Manhattan

In northern NJ and in Manhattan I have seen several 6-series cars during my commute, including coupes, convertibles and Grand Coupes. Most of them are black with black leather interiors, except the GC was white. I think in my geographic driving area, black paint appears to be the most popular color for most 6'ers, both on Dealer lots and from what I have seen on the road to date.

I have only seen one M6 Coupe on the road, a white one with black interior and Georgia license plates, so it was not even from our area. I think once I get my new M6 coupe I will not have much company, from what I can tell, (unless BMW adds significant financial incentives to move the few remaining 2013 M6's on dealer lots, as well as subsequent 2014 M's. No problem for me since I also enjoy driving a vehicle that you do not see many of on the road...

I'm pretty sure it was a pt cruiser not a neon. And that wasn't that long ago haha. Difference is BMW is no where near Chrysler.

All of the options that the 2014 M Sport edition bundles together in this package is a remarkably good deal financially, for everything you get with it. If I did not have to have the 560 hp V-8 engine in the M6 Coupe (and could have waited a few months), I would have gone with this updated package and think that it will appeal to quite a few folks.

My BMW Dealer told me last week that their 1st Qtr. sales were just so-so, with the 6-series vehicles they had in inventory not really moving. I agree that part of BMW's reasoning for this new configuration offering now is that the continued slow auto sales across Europe resulting in more BMW's and M-B's being pushed onto U.S. Dealers, along with more attractive financial incentives. If you can wait to place your order until mid-summer, you will probably see some additional incentive savings.
Imagine the pre-July incentives for those in the know! The 6-series are moving out of dealerships like molasses! I hope they offer 0.9% financing.

Exculsivity my friends. Glad you don't see the 6'ers all over the place like the 3 and 5's.

I believe that would be for the 640 only not the 650.

Agree with this. It is exactly why I have an m3 with every option over a 640/650. Even the m5 is the same price as a 650 coupe.

And yet some of us still prefer the 650 over the M5 or the M3. I guess everyone has their own preferences and luckily BMW gives us options to choose from.

Because only 6er owners would say that neither the M3 nor the M5 qualify as "all the car you'll ever need." lol

Let's be honest, the 650 is the ultimate production über-coupé on the market. I just can't wait for July to arrive!!

The M3 is sexy but too uncomfortable on long trips, and the M5...well I'm just not sure where it places.

Let the hate posts begin! Those are fightin' words! lol

I think BMW is going to have to do something with the E63 S 4matic's arrival. They can stick to their guns about only having RWD M cars, but I think that's going to hurt them in the future when Merc and Audi bash the Bimmers in all of the comparisons. Being 0.5 to 1 sec slower in the 0-60 figures isn't going to go unnoticed nor is it going to be made up for by claiming "RWD just makes for a better driver's car." I'm not saying the M5 has to be exclusively xDrive, but it sure would help to get the power down in the races.

Agreed. The 650xi GC is about $18K more than a comparable 550xi. Does it look better? Yes, to me. But $18K for looks? Wow. Plus the 550 has better interior trim choices from what I can tell. And this $18K is with the new M sport edition pricing. When I price out the 650xi GC I would like I'm only $4K less than the M5 I would want.

Worse, as noted, the 2014 E63 should be about the same price as the 650xi GC. I still think the GC is the better looking car, but the E63 will just crush it in performance.

Last but not least, as pointed out the BMWs have just been getting crushed in the driving dynamics side of things lately in comparison tests. Audi seems to be the new BMW and BMW is the old Audi.

My understanding from reading the pricing guide for the 640i is that with respect to this (page 4 of the GC section as example) the linkage of these two options is only IF you want both XD5 and ZMS then you need to order the additional option:
"776 Anthracite Alcantara Headliner
or XD5 Alcantara headliner in upholstery color
ZMS and XD5 requires ordering ZBC8, ZBP5 or ZBP6"
The same thing is listed on the M Sport Package (not only the Edition) too.
