Any coding expert here? I could use some help with E-Sys install

I posted this in the Coding forum as well. Hoping someone here can shed the light on my problem...

I have used the instructions posted by April1, and I am having difficulty launching "ZGW_SEARCH.exe".

I keep getting the error shown in the attached pictures.

I have also checked the network adapter settings and it seems to be set on "Obtain IP address automatically".

Any suggestions/help appreciated.

Thanks

I have coded my car and never even used ZGW_SEARCH.exe. What it is for? Can you launch the actual esys app?

If so, what do you see when you press the connect button?

It's part of the E-Sys install procedure.

Can you PM info on how you connect to your car? Thanks.

Is this installed on a 64-bit system? I am pretty sure it needs to be a 32-bit OS. My win 7 64-bit gives the same error. My 32-bit win XP works flawlessly. That program is just a test to see if it connects to the car. I think you can still use e-sys as that is a totally different program.

I am using Windows 7 64bit Ultimate and it works perfect. I am, however, using it via Parallels on a MacBook Air.

Thanks. I am gonna give it a try and report back.
Wish I kept my old IBM Win XP laptop.

Try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900634

Make sure you install the files under "admin" and not "user" mode in win7.

Correct, you do not need it at all to code your vehicle and it does not work in 64 bit environments (it may not work on anything besides XP, I haven't tested Win7 32 bit, etc).

@rajeek, Wolfman64 and Triple_0

I have ignored the ZGW_SEARCH.exe part (as you guys mentioned "it's only functional") and went ahead and hit Connect via E-Sys.

"Connect" button does not seem to "gray-out" to allow selection for next step. I have attached pics. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Ramesh

For what I can see is that the the PC's connections works as it can read the cars VIN and allows the selection.

I don't see any car models listed in the target section where you normally select the car-specific files F01, F10, etc..

Once you have the car-specific file selected you should be able to continue...

Perhaps the directory to the data is not setup correctly? Check the stickies in the coding forum. I remember having the change directories from default...

Good luck!

Yeah, it looks like your psdzdata files are not configured properly (in the correct folder). Have you downloaded the psdzdata files? Do you have your directory set as C:\ESysData

This is how it should look like. I am not hooked up, so the VIN doesn't show like yours. That is also the Target file you should use...
