2008 535xi w/JB4..ISSUES---Help!??

Well.....here goes:

2008 BMWxi w/JB4
92k highway miles
error on Idrive during acceleration= Fuel Pump
last for 6-8 seconds and then all systems fine
fuel pump replaced at 20k miles
car has latest injectors
Dealer says that fault codes indicate alternator either over charging or under charging
$1500 to replace

Anybody familiar with this. Dont want to pay this amount. Just had front and back brakes done, wheel bearings, tires, ac condenser in the last 6 months...painful.

Any ideas/ suggestions welcome

Thanks

Did you buy JB4 with BT tools package?

Or if you have access to BT tools, run it on laptop, log the real time batt voltage and alternator output, drive the car around with co-pilot to monitor the laptop (running BT tools), you can see the log overtime to see if under-charging or over-charging.
Also you can check for error messages, HPFP is warantied for 120k-miles and 10-years by BMWNA.

GL.
