Key for Convertible Roof

Do any convertible owners have a key to manually lock and unlock the roof?

Close to the rear view mirror is a hole with a pic of a lock locked and unlocked that looks like it will take some kind of key. I asked the dealer I bought the car from and they had no idea if I was supposed to have a key for it or not.........

A picture would help...but, are you sure it's not some aftermarket alarm or detector? There's nothing in the 2009 Owner's Manual relating to a lock near the rear view mirror.

Hi and thanks for your response! I think it may be where you put an Allen type key to open the roof manually.

That allen key is in the toolkit in the trunk. If that is what I think you are looking at!

just saw this post That allen wrench hole is to
close the top when it stops half way and won't go
down Check your owners manual it's there !
I had a top that was driving me nuts,
would not go down past half way 2 out of three times
After three tries dealer finally got it fixed
As much as I loved the convertible M6 I traded it for a
2010 M6 competition edition coupe
10/10

made an error in last post , it is when top was going up it would stop half way
The allen wrench hole of course is to raise the top and lock it in position so you can drive
