Money's no Object: X5 or Cayenne?

Still struggling with what to buy next. My 5 series vs X5 debate has been complicated by an unanticipated interest in the Cayenne. So, what do the X5 faithful think of the Cayenne as an option?

If money NO OBJECT I would choose PC GTS, but I would suggest to wait for 2014 F15 it may be interesting to see M sport version or at least M sport package on V8. Alex

Do you think an M version will be comparable performance-wise to a Cayenne or Cayenne GTS?

Main grudge against the cayenne, the windshield is very slanted, x6 style, and the 'green house' feeling is not as good as in the X5.
Cayenne interior feel also smaller, more sport car-ish, not good thing for me.

go for the GTS, you can't beat the normally aspirated V8, twin turbo is powerful but jerky power off the line sucks.

Porsche Cayenne looks sooooo much like a Hyundai Santa Fe from the back and sides towards the rear. X5 looks like....... An X5. PC has improved the giant wheel arches that makes the tires look small, but still not as great as X5. For the record, I am a HUGE fan of Porsche they are great cars in every way, but the latest Cayenne...... Just looks too much like the Xover herd.

Not even up for debate. The Cayenne is a superior car to the X5 in every way possible, except maybe space. That's it.

I'm about 95% set on the Cayenne as a replacement for my E70, unless the F15 and upcoming Q7 impress me more.

I've owned a 2012 Cayene S for about a year and after having my 550iX GT for a month am seriously considering the 2014 X5 50.
The Porsche is a beauty and runs well, but the Bimmer, IMO, is better layed out inside and drives as well, is a bit quicker.

Couple things I do not like about the Porsche is almost the entire center console is nothing more than air-conditioning controls and no HUD.
One thing I do love is the ability to adjust height and axle locks.

Seriously considered both the first time around and bought the X5. Even after driving the Cayenne GTS for some time as a loaner from a friend, still does nothing for me. Looking to go F15 this time around too as the new GTS still does nothing for me. Personal opinion, but console, drive, interior crampness (and I'm small at 5'3") and "egg" shape just doesn't do it for me. I will have to admit that that bad boy is fast, and I did enjoy the height adjust and great red stitching.

If money is no object, then buy the Cayenne Turbo S.

I posted this in another forum,
Like most of feed back on this forum we all have reservations concerning the appearance of the new X5. My lease is up in October which puts me in perfect position for an F15. From what is released so far, i am in agreement that this is not the best looking SUV. So i started to look and price other vehices. The Cayenne was a candidate and test drove the S And GTS. My first Drive was an S with very little performance options, MSRP $84k. The motor was just OK, power pulled the car but there were some dead spots in the power band. Comparing against my 11 Msport 5.0, i never really paid attention to the differances between the NA and blown motor. My 5.0 pulls hard straight through. Although the motor on this Cayenne was not a deal breaker, the Handling was. Soft for a Peformance SUV and disconnected, nothing like the Msport. Then i drove the GTS, it comes with sport suspension they call PASM, and a few More HP on the same NA motor. The PASM was substainally better and i really couldnt tell the differance between the 2 motors. That car was MSRP 97k and i didnt feel excited about the car. So i got to work building an S with PASM, deleted a few options not needed, added a few... to make it comparable to my current X5. Got it to 87k, for a car that did not perform like my current msport, MSRP 74k. I have decided to not go with the Cayenne, as i felt for the price, you got a sot SUV with a nice interior. It aint the best looking SUV either.
My point is that we are taking into account peformance as well as appearance. After my research this weekend, i can tell you that the suspension on the MSport out performs the Porsche, even loaded up with the PASM. Not sure if the Turbo is any differant but that puts me out of the price range. This takes the Cayenne off my list and i will reconsider the F15 once it arrives. Hope this helps people when considering this comparison.

The F15 from the pics just looks so... much like a mini-van on steroids.

The F15 is actually making me look at the Cayenne as an alternative.

I think X5 will work better compare with Cayenne!
X5 offers soft close doors, head up display, warranty 4/50k, full service and road side assistance. Even you say money is not object you have to pay to Porsche dealer much more for everything! The Cayenne advantage is bigger gas tank with more miles to drive on highway , not in city! I think the retail value drops off quicker on Cayenne and fewer dealers around for service or parts! The button line to test drive both and compare equal with options cars and see yourself in the better spot! Any these SUV /SAV is much better than VAZ 2105!

With both of these vehicles, I liked their previous designs over the current ones. So that's a shame right there.

But if money were no object, I'd have to take the PC Turbo over the X5. I also think I give the edge to the PC over the F15 in the looks department. If we were talking about the E70, it'd be a much harder choice for me.
