Anyone order a Black or Silver Top ????

It took 2 weeks to get an answer from my BMW Dealer if I could order my 2014 Z4 35IS with a Black top. I saw that it was an option in Germany/Canada etc but when I asked for it the salesman looked at me like I had 3 eyes. He thought I was kidding. Long story short the car was ordered yesterday the way I wanted for an extra $700.00 for the painted Black top. So if anyone out their wants a colored top (black or silver) "YES" it can be done. BMW USA website is behind, always configure your car in other countries to see what else is offered. (yes I understand that engines are always different, but when I was told 'No" to a painted roof I persisted to push further. Hope it looks as good as think it will.

I got the black top - pick it up tomorrow on ED. I also got a lot of the same baffled looks when I asked. Ultimately approved etc.

It was on the USA site for about three days - it also had a big asterisk next to the option that said to check with your dealer. I thought it was funny that the LCI release car was two tone and yet the two tone option seems such a mystery. (at least in the U.S.)

Yeah they hook up to jumper leads while demonstrating the car - so they don't run out the battery and so you don't need to leave the car running.

I'm coming from an E90 335i X-Drive. So I expect the car to feel faster and the handling different but of course cockpit wise it has a certain familiarity.

I will write more as the week goes on.
