Bavarian Blue caliper- VERY PLEASED

I thought I'd post my weekend project my 17 year old and I tackeled.
We got rid of the rusty hubs and painted the calipers "Bavarian Blue".

I'm very pleased.

Nice job. I'm taking my calipers off this weekend to get them powder coated. It's a shame BMW doesn't offer painted calipers. It would really be classy.

Thank you all...I was quite pleased....took about 2 hours to hand paint...would have gone faster but my oldest took my jack stands back to college with him and all I had was one floor jack!

Be sure to post some info and pics. Are you doing F & R? Usually powder coating requires disassembly - how are you getting around this?

I'm not getting around it, unfortunately. I have to remove the calipers and blow out the pistons. I have used this guy before and he's really careful about not getting paint in the threads. I'm thinking red, but maybe black. What do you think about the color?

Red sounds like a smart choice for the two of us.

If the stock calipers weren't so butt ugly I'd go for red or yellow. However I see no point in bringing attention to them so if I did anything to the stock units it would be black.

Looks Nice. Its a great project. Some say that the calipers are ugly. Maybe so, but I would rather have a clean looking, painted set of calipers vs a dull gray, rusty and dirty set of rotors and calipers sitting behind the wheels. I also did not have $2500 to spend on a Performance brake kit. Here are my calipers painted in high heat VHT red, front and rear and bright silver hubs.Brake cleaner, sanding and an air compressor made this project a total of about 7 hours for all 4 plus heavy wheel cleaning at the same time.

Looks great on your car

Agreed...they aren't the most attractive calipers but I hink the blue matching the roundel sets them apart and is a nice subtle mod to my car.
I cleaned my rims inside as well but not like you...those look SUPER clean.

As a matter of choice I would not paint the retaining springs as these will be changed at the next pad service. Plus if you coat them with say acf50 they don't corrode !!!!!!
What causes the callipers to corrode as they do is the alloy wheel cleaners people use to clean there wheels, makes a massive difference !!!!!!!! I only use BMW wheel cleaner!!! not expensive either.
