Post aux conection

Iv just bought an x3 06 plate the se, its standard inside, and in desperate of an aux for tunes, I heard somewhere that not all the x3 model s have the aux output connection on the standard bmw buisnesd cd player I dobt want to put an aftermarket cd player in it unless i have too. Your business cd player is pre-wired for an aux input, you just need to buy and install the cable. Mine didn't have an aux input so I bought one from bavauto. Part # 82 11 0 149 390

Really easy install. I didn't want my input in the glove box so I drilled a hole under the climate control faceplate. I can provide pictures later if you'd like.

The UK got 3 options of sound system - basic (4 or 6 speakers, no amp., no sub-woofers), Business (8 speakers), DSP (10 speakers).

N. America got just the latter two choices, and not too many DSP were sold.

So for a UK model, you have to first identify which level sound system you have.

If you have the Business head unit, it should support the aux-in kit that gaticaag quotes the part no. for.

(The UK units are programmed differently for the different broadcast frequencies in Europe, but I would think the aux capability is mostly hardware so should be standard.)

If you had the basic level non-Business head unit, you would be out of luck I think.

Just follow the E46/E39 Aux in threads. You have a New Gen (40 pin) headunit. The pins are the same for OG and NG but the connector shell went from 10 to 12 pins, so if you don't have the shell you need to make sure you get an NG kit.

I just have aux input installed not long ago . It was simple and only took me less than 30" to plug in , run the cable , drill the hold in the astray etc . Go on eBay , search for OEM BMW x3 aux - Part Number: 82.11-0 149 390

Installation depends on what you have already installed. You either put the L, R & audio GND pins into your existing connector or use the one that comes with the kit.

RYAN: love that red interior. Looks a well optioned car, with heated seats and front PDC. I was expecting a different arrangement of connectors for the business nav though! I expected a BM54 in the boot and the blue/white nav connectors at the radio, like the late model E46 business nav.

@joylove : it was DIY you could easily remove trims/ stering wheel trim then spay them with any plastic primer & spay paint - mine are without lacquer and the paint is MUCH better than original BMW paint work ( chip off )
