We will check the 3GT out when they arrive at the dealership, hopefully in July.

We are considering doing a European Delivery in the early fall on the GT. I think it is very nice looking.

Agreed. To me the "GT" thing is an embarrassment to BMW showroom floors and do a lot to kind of ruin that hopefulness that the guys designing our cars are flawless geniuses.

If you don't like it don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

Whenever new things come along, some people will be crying about it. How boring would our cars look if designers would just copy the same old theme. The GT concept has great functionality. Give the 3GT with 19 inch wheels and m sport a close unprejudiced look and you may find that the designers in fact did a respectable job in packaging the size into such a fluent shape. This may still not be your cup of tea. But for those who call it plain ugly I recommend a vision check.

This is my view, too. There are many cars that I wouldn't buy. The general trend that the GT projects is fine with me. Some trends that I dislike seem to prevail. These include the absence of body side moldings, wheels that are too big and not bigger to accommodate larger brakes, and some cars getting too big.

I root for GT, I want people to buy them in large numbers - anything that removes CUVs and SUVs from the roads is wholeheartedly welcome as far as I'm concerned. But pretty it ain't ... SW looks so much better than GT in my opinion.

Yeah, but Mark will not own either F31 or GT cause it doesn't come in MT.

I grew up in Germany embracing the station wagon and owned several, but still find this one prettier than any comparable SW currently offered:

I'm not saying that everyone should. Though I think a lot of the animosity has to do with the F34s disadvantage of having to defend the GT badge from the get go, being the 2nd GT car after a very controversially received 5GT.

is the rear leg room in the GT much bigger than the sedan? Or is this main difference cargo space?

Both. GT is roomier in every dimension .

That's why I dig it for hauling kids. It's heck lot better looking than 5GT and comes with an active spoiler.

Both. 3GT is built on the F35 platform (F30 stretch) originally developed for China (they really go after rear seat comfort there - it's a status thing). 11cm extra wheelbase, translates into almost 3 inches of rear legroom, resulting in more legroom than F10. Cargo space is slightly less than F31 with rear seats up, more than F31 with rear seats down. Sedan doesn't compare at all.

3GT haters are mad cause their ride doesn't have active spoiler.

Thanks guys. Interesting bit of information. Was about to order a new 2013 335 sedan. Then thought I could use a 535 since my wife drives a 328 Coupe and will never get 4 doors. The Gt may be the perfect compromise. I may need to wait. Though I will lose the $1750 in incentives I could cash in on.

^ Same here, I'm debating 535d vs. 3GT. It'll be easier decision if diesel RWD 3GT is available here.

That picture from the rear looks great. Wonder when they will begin taking orders? I would guess the ride should be very comfortable based upon the height and increased size.

The rear 3/4 look absolutely amazing comparing to 5GT which is hefty & bulky. The earliest ED pickup is September 2nd.

It actually won't be released for ED until 9/16, which is when I will get mine.

I'll agree that the 3 GT is far less offensive looking than the 5 GT. In fact, considering the inherent compromises from a car of such a nature, the 3 GT is actually attractive in many ways.

And I also hate the SUV/CUV's and would rather see these things out there.

You are correct. 5 GT made a lot of people angry because it was an excuse not to import F11 here and it is perceived as fugly by many. This one is looking a LOT better than 5 GT. I personally would (aesthetically) prefer SW. I witnessed assault of SW bodystyle in Europe in early 90s and for a long time I thought they were ugly. Maybe because they were really ugly back then I'm not a natural born SW supporter.

Thanks. Looks to be about 2500 more than the sedan. Is there a non-x drive model?

Then I assume you were already able to order one. I usually can find the pricing and ordering guide but so far no luck. Will send my SA an e-mail and see if he has the guide.

Please post an update if RWD is available. I am told only xDrive during initial launch.
