Bmw e30 lug conversion

I have a 1991 bmw 318is and I want to put 16 inch style 5s off an e38(7 series)
But I have 4 lug and they are 5 lug
Are adapters a good option?

Re: Bmw e30 lug conversion

Not really. Yes, you could use adapter.plates, but they move the wheels out a lot, taking away needed offset. Best option: E36 318ti rear hubs and E30 M3 front hubs. Not a cheap option, but the safest and best.

I'm on a tight budget So the hub swap is not really an option
It's either the adapters or keep my stock 14 inch basket weaves
Which I'm am tired of. So are adapters safe for just normal driving?
I don't track my car

Why not look for some 4-lug wheels in 15" or 16"?

What he said^

Adapters are plenty safe if they're made correctly. That's not the problem. Those style 5s off the E38 are et23 (offset). The OEM wheels on an E30 are between et30 (the M3 14" basketweaves, but 5 lug) and et45. You're already going to poke the wheels out toward the fender 20-25mm, PLUS you'll be adding a thick spacer, which will bring the offset to zero or less (even more poked out). It won't work.

Find some style 5s that are et45 and you can then run adapters....or just get some four-lug 16" wheels in a style you like.
