Thanks very much for your help. I've bought the unit. Hopefully they'll post it to me.

Thanks again

Thanks irish745, sadly you will have to do some reading! You will need the new connector, I got mine from an audi dealer, BMW didn't stock that connector for some reason.

To give you a hint start with post 243, I listed all wiring for a UK Siemens to Bluetooth TCU conversion. The next page shows the installation and coding process. I did list the part number for the connector too on one of my posts around there.

Stuart

Excellent thread!

Really wish I read this thread sooner, then I would have kept my TCU from my 2007 e90 after upgrading to combox. To add insult to injury, through the combox upgrade, I had to reconfigure the 54 pin tcu plug to the 26 pin plug the combox used.

Ironic isn't it, we went from 26 pin to 54 pin and now back to 26 pin...

Anyway here is the part# for the 54 pin if you want to order from BMW instead of Audi: 61136920074

EDIT: Just heard back from Evan@Tischer:

61136909070, socket housing, 37-54 pol, $0.92
61138369696, socket terminal, 0.2-0.5mm, $0.46
61138369700, socket terminal, 0.75mm, $0.64

I believe you'd probably need all of that to build the appropriate connector for these.

Let me know if ya need anything else!

Hi stuart, very impressive work you have done there, I just want to ask you a quick question if you have any info about, I have a 2006 730d which has the bluetooth module already, would it be possible to some how put a bluetooth module into it from any other bmw that allows music streaming? Cos I had a friends new 7 series for about a month and I could stream music over bluetooth which was so nice to be able to. Thanks in advance
And I would love to have ACE and Papas views and thoughts on this matter if they can see it, thank you all

TCU 1.5 that is installed in MY2007 and later lists Bluetooth A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) in the list of codable options (as long as you have a current flash file installed). This TCU 1.5 is also used in the E60/E61 5er.
I don't know of a way for the E65 interface to select AD2P as an audio source.

Others may know more.

Hi guys, I have been following this thread quietly for a long time, as finally decided to go for it. I bought a 2009 TCU couple of week ago, got all the software installed, but failed to get it work despite trying many different methods, including dummy changing the production date on VO, which led me to think that the TCU was too new for the car, so bought another one from 2007, same part as Stuart's, and success!! It's all working fine now. Lucky for me, my car is 2005 facelift, and the TCU connectors are the same, just had to modify the TCU 54pin socket housing a little bit so that I could plug it in. Coding wise, I just followed the instruction here provided by Paper and Stuart, so thank you very much guys, now I can get rid of the front draw phone and the sim card! LOL.
