Man you guys are great. Odometer gears are working great for me. Thank you for providing the parts that wear out. I have an '89 325i, these round bushings will tighten up my shifter for sure?

Absolutely. The difference will be very noticeable if it is paired with the rear bushing as well!

Is there a more simple way to replace these bushings besides taking out the drive line, and tilting the transmission back to get to that clip on top of the trans? As is it looks like a real big fix for a such a small part/problem.

Unfortunately not. This is more of a "while I'm down there doing other things" kind of modification.

Although it may be possible, you may go mad in the process.

Most US companies have this attitude of "we will freight it our way & screw you"

Thanks for your service

Don't currently have any compelling reason to pull the tranny at the moment, but I'll have to remember this. I have the left side hole in the shift boot...

I have a mothballed Triumph GT6 and back in the early 90's when I was I was driving it, they always had an issue with the shift linkage rubber bushings disintegrating. So, had a local machine shop make me a couple of Delrin replacements and that was the end of that problem!

How do you get that rear carrier bushing into the mount?
I just replaced my old rear carrier bushing/mount with a new OE unit, and it seemed like the rubber part was fused into the metal housing. Is this not the case?
And the previous poster was correct... that top clip holding the shifter arm pin in place will drive you insane no matter how you slice it.
Thanks!

That is correct. The rubber must be removed. It can be burned out or using a heat gun.
