E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

I just bought a 2010 128i and cannot get the USB flashdrive to work. When I plug it in per directions it does nothing. The flash drive is a Corsair 16G, 2.0 and the file is a WAV. Any suggestions?

Thanks

USB cable

I purchased my 2010 128i in dec and couldnt get it to recognize my iPhone. Had to get a Y cable that has the USB and phono plug on it for the car to recognize iTunes.

I was lucky and the sales guy at the dealer gave me an extra one that he had taken off of another car. Rare things I hear. When I plugged the phone in with just a USB, it did not sync all the time and did not recognize the phone

For music, I loaded a lot of songs on a couple CD's as MP3's and each CD has 150-200 songs on them

It works this way now!

I'd try a different USB device and mp3 files.....then worry.

I had a 2010 328i that had a USB port that worked about half the time. Dealer finally replaced it.

There are two format options for USB drives, FAT32 and NTFS. Don't know if this could be a contributing issue....needs to be FAT32. Check the USB properties using your computer and if needed, reformat the drive. Hope this helps..

The manual states that the USB ports are for recharge only -- you MUST use either the 3-way connector or the center console iPhone interface to fully connect iPhone, iPod, etc.

That's only true if you do not have the Enhanced Bluetooth and USB option. If you have that option on your car, no Y-cable is needed, only a standard USB iPhone cable -- either 30-pin or Lightning.

I wish I'd ordered that option: I have an iPhone 5, BMW does not yet make a Lightning Y-cable, and I've had difficulty getting the Dock-to-Lightning adapter to work with the Y-cable.
