Launch Control - What am I missing???

OK..... I am frustrated!

I have viewed multiple times, the video in the original post of this thread topic.

I have tried to use the Launch Control feature on my 2014 BMW M6 on numerous occasions, in warm weather this past summer and fall, on a dry and clear rural road where it would be safe to allow lightning acceleration and to experience what this vehicle can really do with all of its mechanical and electrical performance features optimized.

For the life of me I cannot seem to get it to work..... at all......

Can one of you Experts, (or at least someone with an F12 M6 who has successfully used Launch Control on this vehicle), please give me a very clear and concise, step-by-step directions on what I should be doing, in the proper sequence, along with any other additional required conditions, in order for this to work.

It would be greatly appreciated....

First, going to admit that I haven't used Launch Control.

More than a few people have had trouble and more times than not it's a dealer issue. In the 1,200 mile service too many dealers are doing the reset wrong. From the "F12-F13 M6 Complete Vehicle":

Quote:
During the first 5,000 km/3,000 miles the launch control should not be
used.The 2,000 km/1200 mile pre-delivery check must be performed
and reset/confirmed with ISTA (do not reset via the instrument panel
service function as the launch control is not released).

1) make sure your car has had its 1st run in 2000km service- bmw then does software which allows it to be launched.
2) engine at optimal temp
3) Stand still
4) press brake pedal slightly
5) push gear lever forward AND HOLD IT FORWARD (launch appears)
6) While keeping lever forward press throttle full
7) rev will go to 3000rpm (you can set it with cruise control up and down)
8) release lever

Thanks guys....

I appreciate the step-by-step instructions.

I will also make sure that my BMW Dealer properly performed the internal software reset and confirmed with the ISTA, when I had them perform the necessary servicing at the approx. 1,200 mile mark.

Now, all I have to do is wait for the 11 inches of snow that we received yesterday to melt, along with a long heavy rain to wash all of the salt off the roads and then have some nice spring-like weather with outside temps at least 60 degs.

Also, I will wait to have my summer performance wheels/tires reinstalled since I have my winter wheels/tires on the M6 until the end of March.

I had issues with getting launch control to engage. It seemed to magically become active at approx 1800 miles, nearly 300 miles after the 1500 mile service. However, it is still a hit or miss opportunity to get it to work. It is literally a 1 in 10 chance of getting it to engage. More trouble than it's worth! BMW get a "fail" on launch control usability.
