20-30yrs later those engines will be so rare, that even broken ones would be gladly repaired, but then they don't exist anymore.

thanks . The streets are really bad here in NY and im already running 18s. I'm not really thinking about lowering it right now unless I do a complete suspension overhaul so I can lower it the right way.

I finally took the car to an HPDE at Buttonwillow. I have only had the car for 11 years - I took delivery on June 18, 2002. I don't know why I waited so long to do this as I had a great time.

I have seen one of those engines on local craigslist for as low as $800. Post final results, it should be a sweet ride.

That is pretty damn cool right there! Were you able to retain the E46 steering rack? One debate we E39'ers had back in the day was the R&P vs Recirc Ball steering... the 540 had RB supposedly because of the bigger V8 not leaving room for the R&P rack of the 528i/530i variants.

Put a new Head Unit in...this guy http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...rs/DEH-X8500BH

Was hesitant on doing this until i found out that pioneer lets you color match to your dash...pretty cool stuff
