2 questions about my 2011 335is coupe

Here are some questions I have. In the first picture, I noticed something behind the middle rear view mirror, I thought that this may be automatic brightness control but can't seem to find the button anywhere near the steering console? anyone have any suggestions on what this might be?

And my second questions is, I have been reading about the launch control feature and have been wanting to try it out for sometime. I know that you need to disable the DTC but when I do, I get this warning sign on my dashboard. Do i need to take my car back to the dealership or is that normal for that warning to appear? Anyone have any comments on that?

As Fred says, RTFM.

Rain sensor.

You don't have launch control - only M3 and 335is do.

Smaller pics next time.

Your suppose to see that light. Launch control ready is:

Sport Button
DTC On (One Press of the TC button)
Gear in M1 (Push the shift to the left, then press up for M1 mode)

Most important, you need to have over 1300 miles on the car for LC to work

Ok so let me ask this just to clarify. When I push the dtc button and get that warning sign, this means that the dtc is on or off? Why would I get a warning sign if it was on, isn't it suppose to provide better traction when I am driving? What am I suppose to do when I want to drive with the dtc on and not perform a launch control.

The light is to let your know that DTC half off for "Sport Traction" when the Sport button is enabled. When not using LC, no lights, DCS is "fully on"

If you press and hold down the DTC button for 10 seconds it will 100% completely disable DTC and you will see you get a different light for this

Seriously, you really should read the owner's manual, lots of important info.

As you push the traction control button once it disables the traction control over wheel spin, thus the DTC lights up on the dashboard. Hitting it twice turns off even more control, at least that is how it is on my 2010 I coupe, not sure re your IS. Again, read the manual for full clarification in reference to your specific auto.

Look, it's clear at this time that you have ignored our urgings to read the manual. If you had done so, 1) you would know the purpose of DTC, and known that 2) it changes the operation of DSC. You would also probably know the purpose of other indicator and warning lights - there are around 100 different things that can show up (mostly related to maintenance.)

The light is ON because you have TURNED on DTC, not turned it off.

BTW, the description of DTC/DSC and other things is on page 82/83 of my manual. Look it up in the index to find it in your manual.
