What offset range is OK?

It's still a little early for snow, but I figured I'd do some shopping for winter wheels. What offset range can I use with 18x8s?

I think they're in the 30mm range. Take a wheel off and look at the back; the offset is there.

How funny, I was looking for winter wheels last night as well and was wondering about the offset. I think I might take advice from other model forums and go down to 17's for better deep snow traction and pothole buffer.

Here are the designs I found on tirerack that I partially narrowed things down to.
