Thank you BMW for great A/C

With the heat wave here in the West, I was thanking the BMW Gods today that the A/C is working quite well. I seem to remember some of my BMW's in the late 80's that could barely keep cool with exterior temps in the 80's. Between the nano tint, electric sunshades, ventilated seats, and the great A/C system, I was cool as can be inside my 7.

You do drive a lot. Didn't you get yours after mine? Got mine in March this year, at 4300 miles so far.

Drove out to Canyon Hills today, was 103F out, didn't feel the AC struggling at all.

Yes, the HVAC system in the 2010+ 7 Series is VERY good. In the past, my BMWs (especially 3 Series and 3 X5s, the A/C was not very good at all). When I had my 2012 ActiveHybrid 7 Series, with the all around UV glass, the A/C was incredible and the car cooled down so fast and stayed very cool. BMW shared their great newer A/Cs with Rolls-Royce too. All their models have standard UV glass and great A/C...but sadly the Phantom does not even offer ventilated seats. Vent seats only available on The Ghost.

Of ALL my countless cars , I think Range Rover has the best A/C. Strong!!!!, even, powerful yet somehow quiet! Mercedes is quite good, where Porsche and Bentley are quiet, yet not super cold and the A/C is very gentle, too gentle for my taste, even when blowing on Max. Ford makes ICE cold A/C too. Good old fashioned COLD air, lol!!

Btw, it was 109F yesterday here in Woodland Hills, California. We are forecasted for the SAME until at least Tuesday :-O

I was hanging out with a buddy yesterday and temps hit in the 100's, I hit the auto button and dropped the temp to 60, and the cabin was cooled extremely fast... The thing I have noticed with the so-so ventilated seats, on a hot day, all I can feel is the hot air blowing on my back, seems to make me "feel" hotter with it on...

Mileage comment here...Crap... I am going to be wayyyy over mileage... I just hit 7500... and I think we got our cars the same week... I need to buy a commuter car...

Unless you plan on buying and keeping it...

I got a "commuter" car for my 50mi round trip jaunts to work 5-6 days a week. Keeps the bimmer looking clean.

Chris, I got my car in February, so I'm only 1000 miles less than yours from March

I have to agree on the AC, given that I barely hear the fan even on high. At first, I thought that it wasn't working properly since my X5 sounded like a leaf blower with the fan on full stream. Have to say that the 7 continues to impress, although the run flats are much less forgiving ride-wise when the temps exceed 100. I'm in Northern AZ for the week, and with temps only in the 80's, I really notice the ride difference. Time to start looking at the Contis soon.

Popoemt, I wouldn't worry about the miles since you're obviously enjoying the heck out of your car! I'm planning a road trip to Carmel and Monterrey in August, so I'm sure to quickly catch up mile-wise to you by then.

+1 on the temp and ride difference, we are at 107+ right now and I hit a small... very small... speed bump in a lot and it felt like I hit a boulder... it was quite shocking...

We are planning a trip to L.A. next week, and I am pretty sure we are not taking the Ford Flex.... hahaha... I love this car...

I am really glad to hear that most people really like the A/C in their BMW's. My 2011 550i sucks as far as the A/C quality goes. I have been told that it is fine and working to spec. I just ordered a 2014 750i and have my fingers crossed that the "flagship" will have a better A/C. My Chevy crew cab will put frost on you. My 550i...not so.

In the Middle East they also offer an optional secondary A/C system as well.

Best A/C I've ever experience was in my 02 Lexus IS300... that thing could give you a headache it was so cold.

Ditto that!

I have a Tahoe and a Silverado, I've taken them with me out to the desert shooting, and on full blast it feels like you could store ice cream inside, even when it's 100F+ outside. Govt Motors definitely has good AC suppliers.
