Mineral Gray X1 in wine country - photos

I've been doing a stay-cation this weekend, but as I live only an hour from wine country, I decided to stretch the X1's legs a bit now that I have hit the magic 1200 mile mark

While Napa is very nice, I opted for the less crowded Sonoma valley to check out some off the beaten path roads that used to make me cringe in my GTI as it would frequently bottom out.

Not so with the X!

It was a beautiful sunny and cool day. Perfect for a bit of wine and cheese sampling!

This car handles rough roads very well. The added ground clearance is a bonus.

Ended the day with a nice dinner in the Sonoma town square. All in all not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon and the new Bimmer definitely added to the enjoyment.

I'm digging those X-line side skirts and wheels, and this was my color choice after sparkling bronze. Looking good!!

Beautiful. Exactly the color I plan to order. Is it the four or six cylinde? I am undecided between the two.

Awesome! Great pics.

We're planning a trip to napa next year.
But now I might have to try this Sonoma place!

Actually I took my now deceased VFR800 over that road a number of years ago

Yeah I really like the 322 wheels.

4cyl. Plenty of power for me.

Sonoma is the next valley over from Napa. You can visit both pretty easily. More history in Sonoma, but not as trendy as Napa. The wine is just fine either place, but Sonoma county is also known for its cheese.

Life is so unfair. I want those wheels and more than that, I want to live in wine country. We went to Paso Robles last year, Italy this spring, and have tickets to Walla Walla in the fall. But unfortunately we live in SC so we end up with rentals which sucks.

I will stop whining now and go drink some wine.

Wine is good! I was stationed in Charleston for 4 years, so I can empathize. I loved the town, but after that, you had to travel far and wide to find anything interesting to drive or ride (or eat for that matter). And even though it is 104 in my backyard here today, I do not miss the humidity in that part of the country. I had dinner in Napa last night and it was 103. The X's air conditioning worked fine however, and all was good! The desert shown below didn't hurt either.

This was the "Ice Cream Sandwich" I had for desert last night in Yountville.

That looks good!

Charleston has really good food, the restaurant choices are phenomenal. The wine selection is not always great and it is always overpriced, whether at the store or restaurant.
