I got what I think is a good deal for a small town dealer. Of course he asked that I keep it between them but based on my dealing with other manufacturers I think it was fair to both of us especially since I'm getting the first one from this dealership.

Keeping a deal private more often than not is to prevent you from coming on here, and finding out there is still room to negotiate. Perhaps up charging the money factor, aqu fee, including a doc fee, etc.

For a small town dealer, this comes out of their allocation I'd assume. Which means they want a decent margin on it, especially if they have '13s on the lot.

If you're happy with the deal so be it, enjoy your car.

Welcome!
Take pics when you get it.
Chris

If you paid anything over $500 over invoice, you overpaid. Whatever the sticker is, take off 9.38% and that's what the number should be. Not that it matters. Congrats either way. In a week or two, follow-up and see when it will be at the port (Bremerhaven), and then you can track it on the vessel it's on.

Check out my thread on the Pleiades Leader, which had my car on it. And then I had the guy at the port locate it and take pictures of it coming off the boat. See here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...489&highlight=

Congrats on the car, can’t wait to see pic’s of that interior. Did you try to get a better price on a 13’ or did you just want the 14’?

I just leased a new 13’. Stickered at 105,995 and they came down to 100,500. I suppose I could have beat on them some more but I decided not to. They did agree to tint my windows, hardwire my radar detector and install my wheel spacers. Upon the advice of some of the other members here, I went to Truecar.com and printed off the guarantee price they had. Maybe there was, maybe there wasn’t more money on the table, but I was ok with it so I consider it a “win win” for both. The sales person has to make money, and the dealer or they will not be around long.

You certainly did your share to "help out" your poor dealer. That 2013 could have been had for 90k, but it sounds like you have convinced yourself that you did the right thing.

We all think we got the best deal ever on our cars, (of course, I really did). We don't buy these cars because they make the most sense or they are the most practical. We buy them because we can!
Congratulations on getting to a point in your life where you can afford to get something you WANT rather than something you need. Its cool to be able to have toys this expensive.
you probably got the best deal today!

can't wait to see the pics.

I went in this morning to sign the paperwork and got tough with them. I told my sales person that I wanted one of those nice BMW polo shirts they were wearing. He said that they do sell them and I could buy one if I wanted. I pulled my big boy pants up and said I wanted it for FREE! He said what size do you wear. I said XL and I want it in white!

Very nice. Night Vision IMO is a waste, I never use it. But it's your cash, enjoy the beautiful ride!

If you are paying more than 10k off sticker, you're giving the dealer money, plain and simple. These cars are not in demand, not even close. They're not as bad as the 5GT or 6 series, but they're not flying off lots. Invoice + $500 minus rebates should put you easily about 10k at least off the sticker price.

I just priced out my car on BMWConfig.com (doesn't include M Sport pkg credit). Sticker would be $100625, invoice is $93165, now add $500 to that for dealer profit, so $93665, now minus $3000 BMW rebate and if you're a returning BMW customer add another $750 so it drops to $89915. See its an easy 10k off, dealer still makes a nice chunk from you using BMWFS, any addons, manufacturer to dealer rebates, and future warranty work.

His car is quite a bit more loaded than mine, so thats where further haggling can perhaps bring that down further.

Moral of the story, if you're happy with the deal you received enjoy it. I don't think many people on the BF forums are scraping to pay their car payments.

Chris, I know I could have done much better in my deal, but that was not was I was after. I’m a little older than most here and at 47 have been really blessed in my business. 5k is not a big deal. I want my sales person to make a good commission because he takes care of me when I need something; same goes to for the sales manager and the service department. I’m certainly not going to get gouged, but I don’t begrudge anyone making money. All is good

wjhughes420384 in post #10 sums it up very well.

I've bought over 50 new vehicles in my life and when you are near the end of the model year I can get invoice or even below invoice pricing but when I'm buying the very first one on a new model year its not really fair to try and beat the dealer down to this level. Let's just say I am more than satisfied with price of the new one and the trade-in allowance on my 2011 550i. I think its worth $500 to drive a car for a year and still have the same trade in value of a car purchased a year later.
