check side lights

Hello all...

So just yesterday my 2004 X5 3.0 started to display " check side lights" after a few walk arounds I don't see any lights not working. Any suggestions or ideas what may be the cause of the message?

Thanks,

Scott

Are you sure that an Angel eye isn't out? Many owners who get this message say the same thing...but only after realizing that they didn't look at the Angel Eyes (which illuminate when the park lights are turned on)...thus are on the same circuit as the "side lights".

If the above still doesn't "show" the problem light, turn the headlights on & do a walk around, then turn on the emergency flashers & do another walk around. The LCM has a "replacement light" feature which takes advantage of some of the bulbs that have a dual filament, & turning the emergency flashers on while all the other lights are on (with the headlights illuminated)...it requires all filaments to be working, so the LCM can't take advantage of the replacement light feature...thus revealing where the failed bulb is located.

Thanks... Yes the passenger side angel eye is out. Is it just a bulb that needs to be replaced or something else?

Bulb.
But personally, I would upgrade to those LED bulb for the AEs. Stock bulb cost ~$20 each while those LEDs are about $35/pair with more output.
