Wiper Arm Upgrade

Ok, I google'd it and found one guy who welded E60 arms with his E39 arms so they are updated and take the mono blades vs old school rubbish we have. I'd like to be walk into a store and buy a new set of Bosch Icons or alike. WTH BMW. My E90 335i has the newer BMW mono blades. I really need to update these arms. Links to DIY's. Has anyone here done this? I was hoping for a whole are BMW part # vs welding a hybrid arm up.

Supposedly this guy Ric sells a kit he makes. I can't find him.... I'd love to buy a ready to go bolt on kit.

Have a look here. You should be able to get the blades described for a direct fit without the agony of a wiper arm swap.

I've always had good service with OEM inserts.

What's the advantage with your Ghetto mod?

You get mad street creds homie. My home dog always bragging 'bout his windscreen wipers

On a more serious note how come we can't just pop on e60 wiper arms they look the same. I wonder if my dad would notice his are missing

I drive a lot on the hwy for work purposes and I've tried every kind of blade out there. I like a quality mono (aero) blade. Specifically BMW brand or Bosch Icon. Less movement points. Would be a nice update to our vehicles. These kind of items show their age. Even a $9,900 Kia comes with aero blades now. It's the details that I enjoy.

I'm with Edjack...I live in rainy Seattle and as long as I stick with the oem SWF refill blades (or the Euro Bosch refills occasionally found online) I have had no problems. The factory arms do not lift at freeway speeds, and wipe cleanly, and they last an incredibly long time...like 18 to 24 months which is impressive with how much use they get around here. Not sure what the Icons are going to add to the mix...I got a set for my GFs Tundra and they certainly work fine and appear to last decently long, but what special quality are they adding guys?

I live in FL. The biggest problem I have is sun exposure eating the blades alive. I park my E39 outdoors. Down here the sun is very harsh. Hence why any dark car not waxed every weekend or garaged will be faded badly on all top surfaces. My E39 sees lots and lots of FL sunshine. The only real advantage I see in FL with the Icons is the wiping edge (rubber) is covered and not exposed to the sun. Therefore I get 1yr+ out of Icons and like 3 months out of any regular blade. Example- my '07 335i had new blades on it when I bought in '10 as a CPO with 36k. Now it's at 45,6k and it's mid '13. Blades are still the ones I bought the car with back in '10. All my previous work cars were on a 1yr interval with Icons.
