2008 M5 Serious Electrical Issues
In the last 4 months, I have experienced serious electrical issues with my 2008 BMW M5. The mileage is approximately 24,500.
The problems started in February with the brake, DSC, and start off inactive lights coming on. The local BMW dealer diagnosed the problem as an alternator, and it was replaced. A month later I noticed the clock was losing time, and the keyless door entry worked sporadically. The same dealer diagnosed the problem as a weak battery, and it was replaced. Everything was okay for the next two months. Then the DSC and start off inactive lights appeared again. Returned to the same dealer. This time the dealer diagnosed the problem as a DSC hydro unit failure, and it was replaced. Now, a few weeks later, the following lights come on intermittently: DSC malfunction, DBC malfunction, start-off assistance inactive, and dynamic damping control malfunction. I have not gone to the dealer yet, but will certainly be curious as to the explanation now.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? I owned the car for 1.5 years without any problems and all of a sudden its problem after problem since February. Thankfully, I have an extended warranty.
