7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

AC (blower)coming on by itself

Has anyone experienced the air coming on by itself. The blower will just start blowing and I turn it off and maybe 10 minutes or so it comes back on. Is there anything I can do about this or does anyone know what causes this to happen?

Same thing happens to me. Randomly comes on when i have it off, like when im driving with the windows down. It also doesnt blow full power and then sometimes it will. I've been told its the battery. Mine happens to be on the low side as it will say "recharge battery" if i leave the key in the ignition for longer then a min or 2 without starting. A low battery can cause several strange things to happen as these cars are very finicky.

Re: AC (blower)coming on by itself

i had that issue w while back. when i turn off the ac, after a couple of potholes it comes back on by itself. i figured it might be a problem with the "off" button being worn out but then it just disappeared by itself.

Re: AC (blower)coming on by itself

I thought I was the only one with that problem. As I'm riding with the windows down the ac will just come on, I turn it off and 10 min later it's back on.

I think the controller panel just starts to wear out a bit.

On mine the fan control dials occasionally think they've been turned when they haven't, and this happened on my old car too.

I just spin them a bit before I put it back on auto and it usually behaves for a few weeks

I don't think its a coding issue. Mine would change the fan speed setting by itself, turn on and off, and just generally act annoying. Replaced the climate control module with a used one (under $100) and the problem went away.

Mine would do it periodically sometimes when i get it the car the a/c would automatically come on sometimes i would have to turn it on manually in other cases the a/c would be on but the blower motor would not kick in until about after 5 or 10 minutes i was told by a tech at an indy BMW shop that the resistor on the blower motor is on its way out
