1983 528e heater??????????????

A close friend gave me, at a donation cost, a 1983 528e. runs like a champ and in fair shape considering it's been in a barn for 3 year. The reason, I think. The heater core leaks inside onto the floor. I have removed all the dash, console, and other vents etc in the way and found buried against the firewall a " black box" that contains the heater core. BUT, the problem, how do I get it apart. There were 2 screw at the front on the left and right side and farther back another set. There in is my problem, they are screwed thru a metal bracket and the bolts at very tight, the seem to turn but not loosen. The box is kind of brittle and probably should be replaced. There is is my problem, how do i get it out and are they available? I have looked at a Haynes manual but it shows nothing, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Rustywelds

I got the heater core assembly out. someone was right in the article about how to service the blower motors from the engine room side. There is a panel that was covered in under seal. Found the screw and got the panel off. Remove the two bolts and the assembly had to unload thru the dash area inside. But got it off. Found then foam trim to seal the core in place was not position correctly causing the core to rub and created a leak.. Wish I could find a source for all the o ring and other foam seals to save making them. Thanks
