How long should the tires last?

I have a 2011 550I GT. This is my first BMW and simply love it. I purchased it used with about 15K on it. It had new tires on it when we got it. Now after about 23K the dealer say's it time to look for new rear tires.

Is this normal for this car? I drive it like my mother.

8K? They should last longer than that unless you used it on a track or drive on the roads like you were!

Are they wearing evenly, or just one edge? If just one edge, sounds like the alignment is off. Or, you are running it with the tires underinflated with a large load at high speeds. Does this one have the active steering? What size tires?

I've had TPMS on at least a few cars, and I prefer one that gives you an actual pressure readout rather than red/yellow/green. Resetting it could have it green at any pressure, and that just isn't safe!

About 15k for the rear and 30k for the front has been my experience

I have 20k on my original tires and do a lot of aggressive driving. I will probably need a new set before turn-in.

I drive my GT very hard, have 22K on my tires and will likely replace all four by end oct or november.. they will make it until then and that will give me fresh tires for winter driving..

i did not notice if anyone asked what tires were on your car?? regardless 8K is not acceptable...

I just changes mine out at 36K. Fronts still had some more life on them, but decided to replace all 4 at the same time.

25k is about right. I had tread on the Goodyears when I lost one in a flat.

The treadwear indicator on the sidewall is a rough guidance on overall life, at least in comparison. Tires BMW supplies vary from around 200 to 400. This equates to 200% to 400% of the reference tire, but assumes proper inflation, proper alignment, and old fogey driving techniques.

The OEMs on my 2012 535i lasted about 12K. I replaced them with SuperSports (non-runflats). Made me kind of glad they wore out...
