NAV Day/Night mode?

Does anyone know if there is an option to have the NAV map automatically switch between day and night mode?

For example when the lights come on have the map switch to night mode, when the lights are off, switch back to regular display?

F Series vehicles have this option, E Series do not.

You can program a memory button to do that for you.

I have always assumed that the lack of such a function in the X1 is because they are deliberately creating model differentiation (like no air vents in the back, although that is probably cost saving as real hardware is involved, the lack of day/night mode has got to be just software hence my irritation). After all the X1 is the cheapest BMW in the US portfolio.

I never thought about that. Great idea. I'll have to try it and I have one memory button left.

Just below your air temperature control area there should be 8 buttons. You can use those buttons as a quick shortcut button.. You can program one of those buttons to switch your nav from day/night view.

Read your owners manual for how to program these buttons.

in Nav screen, click option on idrive controls > display settings > and it should have night view.
At least this is how it is on my X5.

Actually, the X1 only has 6 buttons (not 8)

Do you have to have the Nav screen already in night mode before you assign the button? Mine is not doing the switch after I set the button to toggle it between Day/Night mode

It shouldn't matter what mode it's in. Just go to the menu where you toggle the mode, and then hit one of the memory keys and hold it.

Press right via iDrive and you will get the "option" button. Via this menu u can change the day/night mode. You also add this to a shortcut.
