Check out LED headlights

I know everyone has probably already seen this, but I just saw it today. It is really cool. Fast forward to the examples if you have no patience like me.

This is what I wish we had here in the states! I asked if anyone was able to code this on our cars in an earlier post, no response unfortunately, as this is pretty bad a**...

I have been playing with mine and this is the way they work?? It only works with the LED option which is another $1,900's. I assumed all LED cars were like this.

We do have that, it's the LED lighting package that costs $1900. Pretty cool, but overpriced.....

That's very interesting... I have the LED's and all mine do are the auto on-off, they don't do the highlighting fancy stuff, my understanding is we don't have this due to DOT regs... For those that it works on, how do you activate it?

There's a button for the Auto-Hi's on the left turn signal stalk.

I have that button, I didn't know if there was some sort of check list to get the function of the high beams shown in the video...

Well it works with that button. But for DOT regulations US Specs might only have the auto on-off rather than the adaptive high beam.

Exactly! Which is why it's weird that Richard would have it? I think this will make it on my list of mysterious forces I will never figure out!

I have adaptive LEDs on my 650GC. They have the auto high/low function and turn with the steering angle of the car, but not the fully automatic function shown in the video above. From what I have read, the DOT will not allow that in the US at this time. It would be interesting to see if this could be coded to the car.

Although I can't personally confirm it, it appears both MB (2014 E-class and S-class) and Porsche (PDSL Plus with LED lights) have the dynamically adjusting high beams in the US.

Dynamically adjusting and beam splitting half high beam BMW style lighting pkg are different. Does mb and Porsche do that too?

They probably do. There are so many features that BMW North America legal dept won't allow on our cars that makes no sense...my dealer says b/c of Gov't regulations won't allow: Remote trunk close, auto folding mirrors etc... that are available on my Mercedes.
My feeling is BMW North America legal dept are way too conservative b/c it is self evident that other manufacturers allow them.

My Toyota Sequoia has a self closing rear hatch. When that sucker goes down it looks like a garbage truck smashing the trash. Do you know how many little kids I could squash with that? Very dangerous. And BTW, my side mirrors also fold in. Very helpful when squeezing thru the Drive Thru!

The rear shelf is a huge light that can be activated to blind tailgaters, imagine that

Check out LED headlights

I just checked the coding forum and found this

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=660719

It looks like US cars would need extra hardware in the lights (some sort of shutter) to work this function properly... Boooooo

They charge us the same amount as the Euro version that has it enabled, but we technically don't have all the hardware?? Ripoff!!!

Iím gonna have to try this again, because I could have swore I saw my lights adjust and move in the fashion described in the video. It really does suck if we donít have it and we paid for it.

Any updates with this Richard. I just got mine with the LED package and have not been able to test it out yet. Cool video though.
