a screeching sound

whenever i push on the accelerator, i always hear like a screeching like noise coming from the engine..it normally goes away after the 2nd gear..could it be the serpintine belt

The screech is caused by a slipping serpentine belt; once the ancillaries such as alternator and p/s pump are run up to engine speed, the screeching will stop. Check and adjust the two tensioner pulley sets; if they are at full adjustment, replace the serpentine belt. Occasionally one of the adjusters will fail - check to see if there is still tension in the spring.

One belt tensioner is located just beside the water pump, on the right hand side of the engine. The other is accessible from underneath (remove the splash guard to get at this) and is just to the left of the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer). Have a look at this link:
