GC looks absolutely amazing in a dark color. You can't go wrong with either Black Sapphire, Ruby Black or Carbon Black.

+1, especially since it used to be an extra $5K, now down to only $1950.

It's not worth it even at this bargain price If budget is no concern (nor the extra care), spend a little more and get the Frozen Bronze.

The Carbon Black, which is gratis with the M Package, gives you that wonderful black/not-black effect that, IMHO, is as effective as that in the Ruby Black or Citrin Black. It has a beautiful indigo look in direct sun

It's possible it was the lighting but when I saw the Ruby black m6 it wasn't black at all. It was a brown/purple. I don't think anyone would look at it and think that's a black car. I think calling it ruby black is a little misleading, in my opinion they should have just called it ruby. But again, it could have been the lighting.

Agreed - it's how the light hits the paint. The "special" black paints (carbon, citrin, ruby) don't look black in direct light. With the sunny weather we've had lately, my car is more blue than black. I would imagine the same goes for ruby and citrin (both a bit more brown with red and orange highlights).

Right. I have a Ruby Black GC. It looks black in any situation less than clear sky, and has a red glow in sun lit situations. People keep on wondering what color the car is

Can you post a picture?

In regards to the Carbon Black metallic, the main difference other than it really being blue is that non-black is less stark than a true black. The color may look black but it is softer and less stark.

Wouldn't a black car be like an oven in the UAE?

If it's anything like the searing heat we're experiencing in the Northeast US right now, then I can verify the answer is "yes."

Color option

I have a 2013 Ruby Black Gran Coupe, with a Champagne merino leather interior. I really like it! I also installed Vossen CV4 wheels. The wheels are a bit of a challenge to keep perfect while running them on NYC street, potholes here are treacherous! Ruby Black shows differently depending on the outside light. I feel this unusual color effect makes the car stand out compared to Black Sapphire metallic. However, Carbon Black has the same kind of effect as Ruby Black. Ruby Black is a little pricey, but you will not see many cars with your color. I have received many compliments on the color.

No, not a Brooklynite. I live in Manhattan, just on the other side of that bridge. Thank for the compliment.

Carbon Black is beautiful, but a pain in the ass to keep up. If I get a 6GC, it's going to be Vermillion Red with black or Deep Sea Blue with the Cinnamon Brown interior.

Have a black sapphire GC 650 with ivory interior.

When clean it looks like a half mil Aston Martin (quoting a lad). I know a bad quote.

But it's hard to clean. Both interior & exterior.

Mein Auto: Nothing sexy right now...
I'm considering a GC but we live in the UK where the light is flat and all the near-black colours just look, well, black most of the time.

At the same time, I wouldn't go with too pale a colour like moonstone, as it would be forever dirty-looking. So, that leaves Tanzanite... or we go off-piste... we have a tradition of funky-coloured BMWs in my household - Madeiraviolett E36, Techno Violet E31, Malachitegruen E61, Barbera Red E91, etc.

How about one of Oxford Green, Mora Metallic or Daytona Violet for the F06?

That's an awesome choice. I wish the Germans would start offering green cars.
