Re: Brake pad code will not reset

After you change the pads you have to reset it manually. If you dont know how to check con youtube and type reset warning brake light con e60. Good luck with that.

Maybe I was wrong, but I thought it reset after lock-to-lock left and right on steering wheel.

Re: Brake pad code will not reset

If it's anything like the e39 or e46, it should shut off on its own after approx 50kms/35 miles.

No, it doesn't reset itself in anyway. It's manual. As suggested check on youtube for video instructions. It is reset in using the odometer reset hidden menu.

Are you trying te reset the brake check interval inspection or the pad warning sensor? I just turn the key oin with the car off for about a minute and the pad warning sensor resets...of course you need to replace the pad sensor first

+1. I needed to reset mine manually after replacing the pads. It won't reset if the circuit on the pad sensor is broken, but it will otherwise.

1) Turn on ignition (don't start car)
2) Hold the odometer button until you see the service indicator (about 4-5 seconds)
3) Press the odometer button quickly to scroll through the list of service items until you see the item you want to reset
4) Hold odometer button a little longer once you see it. It will ask you to confirm reset. Hit the button once more (hold it for a second or so). You should see the mileage change to indicate it has been reset.

Done!

Since no one mentioned this, OP did you replace the wear sensor? The service indicator will not reset if the wear sensor is worn.

Stupid question...I am about to replace rotors, pad and sensor (the sensor light is not tripped)...question is...do I need to disconnect the battery prior removing the sensor?
