Road trip--Great Northwest!

OK, we left the Bimmer at home this time because we had a lot of stuff to bring with us, including our trusty Labrador and his crate, so the minivan got the nod this time, but the 325i has made a few trips up hre, and I'm sure the 335i will get its turn one day.
I will post up pictures from our trip occasionally as I take them. Here's a few to start:

Crossing from Oregon into Washington over the Columbia river:

20+ hour drive meant a coffee stop, and letting Duke stretch out the legs!

Traffic was terrible at times, especially with all of the freeway work going on in NorCal!

Almost there! (Daughters house)

The view from my daughters front porch:

and a couple of shots of a nearby trail where I've been walking the dog:

More to come!

Apparently you forgot to include the standard apology to everyone for your crappy iPhone photos.

Looks like your having a bunch of fun! That is a beautiful view from your daughters porch. How long are you planning on staying?

Subscribed for more pictures. Hopefully you will be able to take that awesome 335 next time.

Thanks! We're here for 2 weeks. I plan to add a couple of pictures every day to keep it interesting.
I really missed the 335 in Grants Pass when the old guy in the Dodge pickup decided he didn't like getting passed by a Honda, but the Odyssey was still more than a match, just not as brutal of a kill. It involved superior driving skill over HP!

Yes, we grabbed the V1 out of the Bimmer for this trip, and they lit it up quite a few times down there! We also got constant hits between Sacramento (California) and Redding, where there is a lot of night time freeway work going on.

We were driving all over the place the last 2 days, so I couldn't exactly shoot photos, but I did stop for some cheese tasting:

and some frisbee golf with the SIL and his oldest:

Ha ha, my 'putter':

I built a little fire to roast marshmallows for the Grandkids to make "S'mores":

We were in downtown (oldtown) Mt. Vernon yesterday walking around, and I managed to snag a couple of "Geocaches" while I was there. Spotted the camo tape on the container before I saw the giraffe!

The local food Co-op:

Stopped here for a fresh baked Marionberry pie:

....and some fresh peach shakes and lattes:

How far off of the 5 is that? Nevermind, I just Google-mapped it! The Northwest has its fair share of great beers for sure!

So yesterday we decided to drive over to a nearby island (there's a bridge, no ferries needed!) to a little town called Anacortes to have lunch. The weather was back to the typical Northwest gloominess, so it was overcast all day!

You may be able to see a couple of the San Juan Islands out in Padilla Bay in the distance. These are reachable by Ferry, as is Vancouver, B.C., and to the south, Seattle.

We went down to Seattle a couple of days ago to visit the Woodland Zoo. This is my favorite picture! I joked with my SIL about posting it with, "I was on a hike, and when I came into a clearing I saw this!"

Skagit River, 2 miles from the house where it runs through Oldtown:

Puget Sound viewed from Chukaunut Drive:

In front of City Hall, Mt. Vernon, WA:

This was a nice trip, but we'll hit the road tonight so that we'll have Sunday to recuperate. Next trip I'll need to figure out how to cram all of us and our luggage into the 3er!

Snapped a couple of quick pics on the phone while the wife was driving through Seattle last night. A little rough looking due to a bumpy freeway!
Space needle:

Seattle skyline and harbor:

And finally, arriving back in the High Desert!

Over-all, a fun trip, but it's nice to be home. Mid 90's here, so time to swim tomorrow!
