Excellent!

Like I mentioned my experience has been great so far. And the dealership I have had my car serviced at is acquainted with the folks at route66 so I need not be the go-between anymore which is a major time and hassle saver.

Best

Just received the final bill.
I had the Low Pressure Fuel Sensor replaced along with the crankshaft front seal and oil filter housing gasket because of oil leaks.
The total was $1633.00. Route 66 paid for everything (including the diagnostic fee) except liquids (oil and coolant), o-rings (5) and misc shop charges which meant I had to pay a whopping $88.65.

How long does it take to get the RT66 warranty through Penfed? I applied for it over 2 weeks ago and they still have not removed the funds from my account! I have called Penfed and they say that it was requested but is still not processed and could take a few weeks. Is this what others have seen?

chisand, that's par for the course. It took mine around 2-3 weeks as well so just hang in there. It'll happen.

I deposited $50 to open an account at Affinity in NJ in order to get the $2400 warranty. In 2 years it has paid out $4K already! Now looking to get a new car loan there at 1.99%!

Yeah that Penfed is a hoot. Very nice people to deal with and 1.99% on new or used cars up to five years.

Can't be beat.

Thanks!
They just paid for my 3rd repair - over $4K in under 2 years. All repairs done at BMW dealer, who said Rt 66 was VERY easy to deal with and paid for BMW parts.

Good $2400 investment.

I have Route 66 coverage. Just had my car repaired by my local indy. My rack and pinion was leaking. Route 66 supplied the rebuilt rack, (they shipped it to the shop) I paid the tax on the labor and the cost of the power steering fluid. Route 66 offered to pay for a car rental. They were extremely helpful in expediting the repair. Out of pocket expense for me was $85 for the initial evaluation charge (vehicle check) and $ 127 for fluids and tax. $212 total for the repair

You need to start a new thread about your new problems or nobody will know in read about it..

ThIs thread is about a route 66 warranty not your new problem.

Good luck!

No Compliants

We signed up for this when we refied through Penfed after I herd about them on this forum. We have used this 3 times with our Indy SHop in Dallas and they paid every time. Could believe they came through.

Hi
I have 2007 335i with 40k miles on it. I just bought it from private party and financed it through AZ fed credit union. Even though the car is in a very good shape ( for now ), it gives peace of mind if i had warranty. I couldnt find a manual car with my required specification with CPO warranty. To my surprise when i financed the car, AZ fed union gave me the quote for rt66 extended warranty. i thought it is also one of those crazy expensive warranties. But the quote was very reasonable ( considering the cost of repairs ). I would like your suggestions . I have read through this entire thread and i am leaning towards buying it.
Easy Street - 5 years or 100k miles
Plan base cost = 1575
Turbo = 160
surcharge = 600
total = 2335

Questions:
a) The price quoted by most of them in the thread is around 1800-2200. Is that the total or just the plan base cost. I dont understand what that surcharge is ?

b) Most ( 95%) of them who posted in the thread are from penfed. Mine is AZfed. I think the bank should not make a difference, but why stop myself from asking that question. Does it make a difference on which bank i go through ?

c) I saw the brochure attached by couple of them for easy street. I see that there are many items NOT included as part of easy street coverage. Is it still recommended to buy it ? ( i know the answer is resounding yes, given the fact that there are so many other parts which puts a huge hole in the pockets )

d) Before i bought the car, i got it inspected in the dealership and also BMW only shop ( where i got all my services done on my old 325 ). I asked him to list all the probable failures on 335i. He gave the below list.
- The HPFP has BMW extended warranty.
- risk of valve injectors - total 1403$
- Turbo
- Water pump
- Oil stand gasket
- valve cover - 1010

If i consider the worst case scenario, i will end up spending around 2500 just for couple of items in the list. With rt66 warranty i will have peace of mind for the next 5 years/60k (100-40k ).

e) will rt 66 cover valve cover and oil stand gasket ?

Given the situation, please provide your input.

I believe the $600 surcharge is what they charge for a "premium" vehicle. I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm.

I recently purchased this through PenFed and it was just under $2k. My understanding is that the CU can charge whatever they want, the price is not fixed. I have not used it yet, my only issue with it is that it took about 2 months to get the written confirmation of the policy...

In 3 repairs over 18 months they already paid for $4000 of repairs including leaking trans sleeve, LOW pressure fuel pump, gear selector... So much can go wrong BUY IT!

The warranty is transferable, and helped sell my car this week!

Good luck!

Anyone can. Route66 sells through credit unions. PenFed is an easy credit union to join so many, including me, have gone through them. You do not need to be currently in, or former military.

@Diva27 - I've been told that the Surcharge is for the premium vehicle category. Also, not sure if it really is true or not, but the CU states that the price breakdown is very closely controlled by Route 66, not giving them a scope for any negotiation on the rate. Here's my quotation on 2007 X3 (currently at 47K miles and going for 5 years 100 K coverage):
Plan Base Cost: $1,625.00
4x4 / All Wheel Drive: $85.00
Total Loss Refund: $35.00
Surcharge: $600.00
Taxes: $0.00
Total Cost: $2,345.00

BTW, this quotation is not from PenFed, but from Chicago based First Northern Credit Union. They refused the coverage for X3s & X5s. I am in touch with a Route 66 agent who has send few CU names offering Route 66 in IL.

Extended warranty through PenFed (Route 66)?

For my thousand eight 535 it was the base cost ~$1600, plus premium vehicle surcharge, plus Turbo surcharge, plus all-wheel-drive surcharge - Total $2400.

For a 60 month zero deductible policy this is a very very good price!

It more than paid for itself in 2 years ($4000 worth of repairs!) and I transferred the warranty to the Guy who brought my car last week.
