A few questions about my 2007 E70 4.8

Sorry guys, this is my 1st ever X5 so there are a few things I am wondering about***********:

1. I know my car have Run flat tyres, is that the reason why I don't have a spare wheel? How do I know if the sensors on each wheel are working or not?

2. I know the N62 has issue with coolant transfer pipe leaking early, but the E70 has the updated N62N (according to realOEM) Has this issue been resolved in the N62N?

3. Whenever I start the car, AC sometimes come out near the windsceen whilst sometimes its on the vents in front of the dash. I didnt change any settings but its randomly doing it.

Question1: if no TPMS light then they're working. If light is on it could be low pressure or bad sensor. Had cars with TPMS since 06 and never a problem.

Question 2: the problem still exists as well as weak valve seals. Check the 7 and 6 series forums as all these cars use that same engine if you want to clear any doubt.

Since you're in UK, I'd investigate if your car has TPMS sensors at all, as non-US cars usually employ ABS for tire pressure monitoring.

thanks for all the replies, I will do all of that

is the coolant pipe worth doing as a preventive maintenance? or do I just wait until it dies on me?

I would wait. It always seems to start as a slow leak. I don't recall reading anyone having a catastrophic failure even after driving with the leak for a while.

You will. Reportedly the first sign is dry coolant on front of engine, but you won't see that if you never look under the hood. Eventually you will get a low coolant warning at which point you will likely see the first sign since you know about the problem. Again, search the other forums where this motor is standard (E65 and 6 series) and you will get lots of hits and crying from the owners.

I have that motor in my 650i and I know eventually I will be hit with repair bills for both the coolant pipe as well as the valve guides / stem seals. It's been bullet proof for the four years I've owned it so I'll just fix the problems when they pop up. The other half says I should sell it since I don't really need it and only drive it 7k miles per year, but I love the comfort, power delivery, handling and overall feel of the car. Not sure how that V8 is in the X5, but in the 650i with 3 pedals it's fantastic and it even gets decent MPG on the highway. Enjoy the X5.
