Connections in Center Armrest

Please excuse my ignorance but I am trying to learn as much as I can before my car is delivered.

I know that there are 2 "connection jacks" in the center armrest. One is a USB for synchronizing /plugging in an iphone or ipod/ music device. if so will it charge whatever is plugged into it ?

My next question is what is the other jack for. Is it an "audio in" for a music device (under its own power) so that you can use the car speakers ?

I have a iphone 4S so I assume I do not need a Y cable to attach my phone

Thank you

Aux In

You will need Y Cable if you don't have Enhanced BT.

I have enhanced blue tooth (as part of the Technology Package on our '13 328xi) but the USB port in the center armrest does not charge my iPod, whether connected by an Apple brand or other brand cable.

Is there, perhaps, a setting in iDrive I'm missing that needs to be turned on to have the port charge?

Try another iPod to make sure that the issue is not your iPod.

If the issue continues then take it to the dealer. The USB in the center console should charge any known Apple devices, either with the Apple USB or the OEM USB cable.

Make sure IPod software is up to date before going to dealer.
