X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

2013 x6 needs backup camera retrofit

aloha from Hawaii,
I just bought a used X6 and it only had four thousand miles on it! Great deal but the drawback was there is no navigation or backup camera.

I can live without a navigation but a backup camera is important, since I have returned from Afghanistan and had my surgeries to my Neck, back and spine I find it difficult to look behind me or turn my neck in a quick manner.

my question to all the subject matter experts here is....what options do i have for a reverse camera? I want to primarily get it on my display but if I have to put it on a clip on rear view mirror attachment or make a custom dash mount display down by the ashtray and lighter. anyone out there have a company that i can get a module to adapt my current display. i have the standard display not the big navigation option. this X6 is the base model, it does have parking distance control in which the outline of the vehicle is displayed and the parking sensors make a tone as i approach close to objects.

any help would be greatly appreciated, i would even consider a retrofit for the Navigation option if it is feasible.

You could look into a rear view mirror replacement with an inset screen. Like this:

Most good pro installers can give you advice on options.

Smile X6 Rear Camera Retrofit

The retrofit kit from BimmerTEch it is in my opinion the best and most affordable rear view camera retrofit with OEM integration in the market. It also has the option for dynamic parking lines. I conducted a very extensive research on many forums to find the best retrofit for my X6. The Kit has high quality parts, detail instructions and world-class customer service. The coding was done very quickly, efficiently and in a very timely manner. The technician that conducted the coding is a true professional with an extensive coding experience. Also their team was very accommodating to my hours, If I have to summarize my experience with BimmerTech in one word it would be; Outstanding!!! With that said, I would definitely recommend their retrofit kits and their coding service to everyone I know. My expectations were met and exceeded and I am a very picky customer with very high standards for customer service and support. The sale experience and the components were amazing and ones of a very high quality but their technical team customer service and coding experience exceeded by far all my expectations. I am very please with BimmerTech and I will definitely this company will be my only choice for both my BMWs, (my X6 and my wife's X1) for future retrofits and coding requirements.
