Re: 85 e30 fuel problem? Everytime I go up a hill or take a turn. Also while just cru

Someone said something about a possible ignition problem. But I don't see how that has anything to do with it at all

I don't think this is an ignition problem at least not with what you've said so far.Your car started out at least with 2 fuel filters one right next to the pump and one one the drivers side in the return line ,someone moved the main filter to under the hood (pretty common "upgrade") and hopefully the other one is still where it started but as most people don't know it's there it may have been a long time since it was changed. As far as causing the pump to cavitate and shut off it , did you check the screen on the bottom of the in tank pump .Though I'm usually against reengineering fuel systems without doing it completely ,it might be time to buy an in tank pump for a 325i and eliminate your in line pump, you still need to find filter 2 and replace it and if someone took it out you need to put one back in the system.I really like this forum but this would be so much easier if I had 30mins with your car.Why where you hot wiring the pump anyway?

So that could be causing the in line pump to be acting up? I'm just wondering also why it does it more often during the heat of the day. No I have not checked anything in tank as I was going off previously owned mechanics word. He says he dropped the rear end and cleaned the tank, put a new pump in tank but he also told me there was only one pump (in tank) which is BS. am I able to get to that stuff via the back seat where that little cover is?

Can anyone tell me where the ground where the ground wire for my in line pump is located under the hood? Is it even there?.

The brown wire coming off your pump is the ground .It's also grounded by way of the main relay through the fuel pump relay. But it should be grounded to the body near the pump. Follow the brown wire.

Okay so I didd a tune up on it. And it seemed to help out a lot with the cutting off of the fuel pump. But still when taking turns and hills it continues to turn off. What do I check? Possibilities are?

Sorry I've been away , did you check the tank pump? Did you change the return line filter?
