Z4 Hard Top

I just purchased a 2011 Z4 30i E89. before I bought it the top was not closing completely. I was assured it would be fixed. I picked the car up on Monday the 24th of June. Over the next week the top failed to close numerous times. I took it to the dealer, They couldn't find any thing wrong and they would show me how to close the top.

The trunk begins to open and then stops. The top always open with no problems.

1, Has anyone had this problem.

2. Great repair center that handles warranty work.

Thanks for any help

You mean when they had it, it worked correctly? They do need to see the problem in order to diagnose it. Def sounds like a sw issue.

The dealer says it hasn't failed for them. It stopped with the trunk partially open. picture attached. This is my first BMW.

Are you opening and closing this from inside the car? I have had this happen a few times when I open/close it using the remote and I am not standing close enough to the car.

upon closing, the trunk lid will stop or hesitate just before it finally closes all the way - keep your finger on the button until
it is completely closed

After almost a month they found the close top switch was intermittent. They also R&R a relay. I now have my car and enjoying it every day. I hope it really is fixed .

Thanks for the help.

I wonder what it would cost to repair/replace these hard tops. I'm guessing if the motor fails it can't be cheap.

I've heard anecdotally it's like $4K.

Yep. I did a little research. Itís a hydraulic pump system. Itís definitely not a DIY project. Iím curious to know if there are any preventative measures we can take to maintain the system.
